Our Culture is Decaying

I am in favour of this topic that our culture is Decaying as we all are forgetting our trends, spirituality and culture, and people are moving to the brands rather to prefer our own culture. And know young generations is more focused on getting likes on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter rather than to gain the knowledge about their culture.

If we want to talk about the culture we must talk about the people. People these days have become more self centred, vain, unsympathetic to others and extremely selfish. The younger generation is only concerned about getting more likes on their next selfie or getting more followers on Facebook. It has become a constant need to project a positive image of oneself on social media. Everyone these days seem to imagine themselves as some kind of a mini celebrity, taking images of mundane things like what they are doing, what they are eating, where they are going, how they feel and posting it on social media. I mean really nobody cares because everyone is busy publishing their own daily lives. These days you visit any major landmark or tourist place you will see hordes of people taking selfies in front of places of interest and uploading these photos on social media. Their only concern seems to be to show other people that they were there and had fun. Meanwhile nobody seems to really care about or enjoy the natural beauty or historical and cultural significance of the place. These days everyone wants to be rich and famous and there is a general feeling that if other people are not talking about you somewhere someplace than you are just not doing it right. You talk with any person and the only thing they want to talk about is themselves, about how good they are, always trying to establish the fact that they are somewhat above you. While walking the streets you see people dressed up in the latest fashion apparel wearing a stern expression on their faces, all the while constantly trying to get other people to look at them, admire them and give them attention. This extreme self obsession, shameless self promotion and selfishness has made people extremely unsympathetic and insensitive to others. Everybody seems to think that they are somewhat better than others in terms of looks, character and personality and that they are exceptional. This inflated perception of oneself has created a situation where nobody really likes anyone anymore because everybody thinks they are better than the rest. This has devastated relationships as people are finding it really hard to maintain friendships, family relationships or even marriages. The human bonding that is the hallmark of a vibrant culture and a healthy society is steadily evaporating. And since people don't really like each other and don't want to come together and work in groups they have less civic engagement and lower political participation than any previous group. There are no healthy public discussions only arguments and labelling. Hence we find the public to be silent about the various issues that are affecting our country, our society, and our family.

I think Indian culture is very better than western culture because in India, rule & regulation is goods compare other countries.

Our culture is not decaying even we are decaying. Culture is ok in their place but what about mentally about culture its a matter. We don't know about culture because our parents don't know about the festival and culture of India.

I want to give an example of The Bhagavad Gita.

You know that gita is a necessary part of Indian Court. A victim take oath to prouf himself in the front of judge even they don't know about gita sar. Just think that how the victim (thief ; rapist; muderr etc) know about gita even the school teacher don't know very well about gita.

This is a just an example of our ignorance. Culture is good and pure but we are not able to follow the Indian culture.

I don't think our culture is decaying I can say it's improving in ancient India Sati Partha and children marriage are legal but nowadays it's illegal so we can say it's improving arrange marriage is another example we agree with mom and dad decision if I have not still seen her so it needs to improve on it.

We Indians have so many festivals in each religion. Like Diwali, Dashara, Dandiya, Ganapati.
And many more. And the way we celebrate it is much better than western culture.

Our festivals are not only for god but it also keeps we people in one thread of our own culture. Many of the foreigners think that we have best and most diverse country together with culture. Then why we are following western culture. So guys I only want so that respect and support our culture with festivals, not with this xyz days. We are Indians then be Indian.

I don't think so as our culture is decaying. From the civilisations of Harappa and Mohanjadaro, our cultures are changing its phase from decade by decade only because of the people's open mindset. Instead, I can say we are spreading our culture to foreign countries and also taking the good things from their culture like celebrating mothers day and fathers day. Do you notice the culture of India is all over the same in entire India, even it changes from place to the place.

I don't think culture decays, it actually improvises and I think our culture is in no way better than others except for the zero. Oh! come on guys many people in this world gave science their contributions but that doesn't judge their culture. Here culture actually refers to traditions and customs followed by us. In America the divorce rate is 40% and in India it is 1% but, it dosen't mean that married people in India are happy, they (mostly women) adjust for their children and also they are afraid of society. We have dowry system, even now in many rural places child marriages are happening. Coming to our ancient India, we forget that there is even sati. Even after independence 40 cases were discovered on sati, god knows how many were not known to the jurisdiction. Arranged marriages where mama and papa see the girl and approve her as if she is a broom stick checked if its in correct condition before using it. Then the boy marries her mostly without even knowing her likes and dislikes, opinions. So, finally I just want to repeat what Dalai Lama said. Open your arms free, get ready to change with the world but do not Let go your values. Most of us believe that today our culture is decaying but who set the culture, we the human beings right.

Little bit, I am telling about Indian cultural VS Western culture. The both cultural are good, but I thinking about India, India not provided such kind of knowledge as well as facilities to the people, school, colleges, but in the western culture, they provide some type of knowledge, facilities according to the school and colleges, so my opinion is the main part is knowledge and the various facilities, that also provides to the Indian people, schools and colleges. As compared to western culture.

I think our culture has decayed far beyond recognition - we talk about respect but its just talk. We don't respect women - we rape them, destroy their spirit and ambitions by getting them married at an early age and make them serve a man. We don't respect children - we manipulate them and destroy their childhood by faulty education system and unrealistic expectations. We don't respect our elders - we destroy their peaceful last years by our greed for the inheritance. We don't respect our country - because we destroy it in the name of caste, religion, progress (destroying the coveted nature). We don't respect our rivers - because in the name of culture and rituals we destroy its essence and purity. We don't respect our religion - because we manipulate the very nature of 'global religion' - we name other religions as the aggressors and try to twist our own beliefs. We are too many and are ruled by mob mentality. We will get what we deserve.
