Reservation, Quota are words which explicitly imply to discriminate on the ground of unequalness. To discriminate is against our basic human and fundamental rights and to consider women unequal is against the very spirit of this bill. Empowerment, in no ways, should be given to the undeserving candidate.

So this bill, in my view, is not helpful for women empowerment. Along with this shortcoming, this bill also induces polarity in society, national loss in the form of capable resources left out and benefits to one political party over the other on immoral grounds. This bill introduces another never-ending quota of inequality.

Women don't need the power to be donated to them. Let them take their fair share of power by themselves on the equal benchmark. Give them support to reach their goals. Free girl child education, free college education, Acts to ensure action on cases atrocities against women and elements who try to hinder the process, awareness to girls/women on their rights are some of the actions that are needed to be implemented at grassroots levels.

Leave aside the bill, because the people who are preaching for the bill today have mostly never allowed the women in their family a fair share of EMPOWERMENT.

A quota is a discriminating word, isn't it? yes women quota will be beneficial for women empowerment as they will also participate in this society, but in present age campaigns are going like women are equal to men, then it is not needed to implementing all areas.

I think it can be implemented in some areas like gram sabhas, vidhan shabhas, where a lady leader can lead this country but bill is implementing in education, the job then it will like a reservation which I think a negative, more knowledgeable more skilled men will not get admision in good universities and a good job.

I think that there is a necessity to pass Women Quota Bill for Women Empowerment-

This Women Quota bill or the constitution (108th amendment) bill, proposes to reserve 33% of seats in the Lok Sabha as well as state legislative assemblies for women.

The critics of this bill oppose it, mainly because-.

1. Equality- They believe that if this bill will be passed then, it would be fair for the male candidates, and it does tamper the notion equality in the society. But, is equality still practised today?

The answer is 'NO', and that's the reason of so many female foeticides, sexual assaults and discrimination of a girl child over a boy child in India. So, if equality is not thought over there, why equality is being pondered over here?

2. Growth- They say that it would dampen the growth of the nation and will affect it adversely. I don't think so, on the contrary, it will enhance women safety in the society. There are so many male politicians who have a criminal background or are rapist and sexual assaulters, how can we expect them to take fair decisions on behalf of a woman? Only a women can take decision which would benefit the women community.

3. Experience- There is already a reservation of 33.33% of seats in panchayat elections for women. The experience of women's reservation at the panchayat level is very encouraging and I do think that it would prove the same at the big level as well.

Thanks a lot!

Hi everyone,

So, today we are talking about bill for women empowerment. Saying that passing this bill only proves that women in this country are really weaker we cannot neglect this fact that since, the childhood women in our country are not treated same as our men.

Like in most of our middle class families parent's like to send their boy's in a better school then women because they find them as their sticks when they got older. I think dowry system is also a one reason, why people in our country don't want a women to be born on their houses.

Love marriages are seen like a sin in our country, so, in order to prevent this sin parent's don't like to send their daughters for higher studies (this point may look's silly to many participant's but it's true and I myself seen this in my own family).

Karva choth, Monday fast's for getting husband's etc. Are some of the rituals which makes men one step higher than women or you can say women herself makes their husband's more important (intentionally or intentionally (through these rituals) ).

Well, from the above point's it has been proved that women are not weaker by birth but they are made weaker when they went through their life cycle. So, reservation is a right step to give more power to the women so that they can make their coming generation more confident and give their 50% share in the society.

So far in the political and social history of India quotas have not proved to be of much help. Take quota or reservation system, it was added in the constitution with a very noble idea to elate the position of the backward classes but right now only affluent people are getting benefited by them in a way that if a person don't have money to buy the form on the first place then how could he get benefited from the reservation anyways!

And women in our society need not have any quotas. When we are talking of equality then it should be for all. We have to change our approach i.e. in our system what's being done to create balance in an unbalanced situation is by creating imbalance somewhere else and then hoping that it would create "overall balance" in the long run.

Today giving quota to women would lead to state of unrest among men and it will put a question on quality selection of men and women. Empowerment can be done apart from the quota method as follows :

1. Women themselves should be aware of the rights. (human rights- the most fundamental thing).

2. They should be educated.

3. Overall society should be educated.

4. They should realize they need not take quota when the top most exam of the country is topped by 4 girls in a row!

Hi everyone!

According to me, before deciding to implement this bill, we need to ensure few things because merely passing bills and making new women empowerment laws won't help in our democracy which has a patriarchal mindset.

First, every educated woman should be made aware about this bill. Awareness is really necessary so that women know what are the different policies and acts available for their betterment.

Second, the system needs to provide a conducive and safe environment for their unhindered and unrestricted growth. Unfortunately, we need to do a lot of improvement here.

Third, there should be no gender biasing for salary entitlement.

Fourth, our constitution guarantees right to equality (even in case of job opportunities). There should not be any gender discrimination for hiring professionals in any sector, be it government or private. Equal opportunities and competition should be there for everyone, irrespective of gender.

Fifth, talent and capability should be the sole criteria for any recruitment.

Sixth, educate more and more women.

Last, do away with the stereotypes hindering the progress of the fairer sex.

If this bill turns into law, would augment in women empowerment.

Thanks and regards.

Hello everyone,

Most of the people here have presented the argument that reservations are for weak people and women, today, are capable enough to get a job based on their skills and talents, and hence no reservation is required.

I respect this opinion but I would like to highlight some major loopholes in this assumption. Firstly, RESERVATIONS ARE NOT FOR WEAK PEOPLE. Reservations are for the groups or communities in our system who have faced discrimination and have been a victim of unfair treatment, and hence a special platform is given to them so that they can merge in the mainstream society.

Secondly, the assumption that situation has changed and women are given equal opportunities. The real scenario is not as beautiful as being painted by most of us. In rural areas, as well as high profile urban areas, women suffer from domestic violence, rapes, partiality, typical patriarchal mentality, honour killings, dowry deaths, female foeticides and what not?

They face discrimination and lack of security at workplace in a lot of ways. Why are male actors paid 5 to 8 times the actresses even for the same role? Therefore reservations should be given to women if their status in society is to be changed.

Hi, my dear friends.

Myself Sooraj Singh.

All my friends gave their view on the necessity of women quota bill.

I like their view on this topic but I have different Point of view about it.

First of all, we need to know about reservation it means giving authorities those people who are not capable reaching at a higher level without by means.

If we give reservation to women it means they are not capable of doing this but we can see women in every field what they are doing. We need to think why women are not reaching there because.

1 - Security problem for women.

2 - Some people think women can not do this.

3 - Women have lower literacy rate than men (67% for women and 87% for men).

So these problems cause not participating women in parliament.

We can understand what is the need. Providing reservation is not the solution for women empowerment. We need to women aware through giving for free education especially backward. Then we can see women as the national leader.

But we are to give reservation give such fields like which indicate less capacity like air jet flying, combat jet flying as well as etc.

Thanks to all my unknown friends.

What I think is that yes, we should treat both the gender equality, there shouldn't any quota for girls and even for boys. We all have the same capability to achieve what we want in our life if we are having good education for that.

But we have to take it under consideration that in our country, many poor people are there who are having daughter and they are not capable to educate them, but it might be same for a boy whose parents are not financially strong to make him educated.

Poverty doesn't look at gender.

For the welfare of our society, if our government is capable to provide some kind of reservation, then this reservation should be given to the poor families of our country.

And reservation is also not given according to the religion, if such a citizen is capable to earn his bread and butter, then there is no need to give him reservation. Same as for women.

And also I want to add one point that a girl must be educated because when she is going to have a baby, she is only the person in the world who he's responsible for his/her thinking, and it is needed for our society to have well educated mind for your future.

GOD bless.

Hi,

I'm totally against of reservation. Because the world "reservation" itself define weakness. Gov should provide reservation only for those people who really deserve it like physically challenge (handicap, blind) etc.

Not for those who are physically as well as mentally strong. Women are capable to take their decision they know what is good /bad for them because now days women's are giving good compact to men in every aspect of life. If govt want to do something really for women provide them security, feeling of safety we need to respect them.

Because most of the parents doesn't allow them to go out of city for higher education because they feel it's not safe there for her. So firstly, we need to change this mentality & this would be possible only when we provide safe environment for them, so that women can get a good platform to prove themselves. Women has great ability to do anything they have strong determination toward their goal.

Conclusion - No need f reservation, don't underestimate the capability of women, if you want to see nation develop by 2020 then empowerment of women is must.
