Foreign Television Channels are Destroying Our Culture

I don't think foreign channels are spoiling our culture. Why are we just considering the bad things why can't we take up the good things they are offering. Nowadays spoken English and a good vocabulary is all we need to become the jack of all hearts. And we are often suggested to watch English news channels and some other English channels to improve our English. Some English channels are updating us with the recent technologies round the world. We can even get to know their way of living. We can adopt their work culture. And who is asking us to adopt their culture. Its totally up to us what we choose to adopt and what not.

Nowadays the cable operators have come up with the set top box system where we are given the facilities to choose just the channels we would like to watch. Then why can't we strike off the channels showing any harmful contents. Or simply stop watching them. We have many things to learn from them so choose the good and leave the rest.

If we really compare in term of knowledge, then foreign television is much better then Indian because the technology they are using is much advanced. If you talking about their dressing. Then its people rights to wear what they like. Culture can't be destroy. This question is arise just because for young generation. Young people of India wants to be advanced like other country. But beside this journey you can't neglect your own culture.

"do you know that India is the only country where people bend and touch feet of the elders for respect".

I accept that lots of Indian television Channel like balika vadhu and more others they don't have a story without weeping.

Old people think that it is a part of culture but young generation knew that it's fake or just a idea to get TRP.

I bet, if you think foreign culture destroy Indian culture than your age is greater than 40. Vise versa.

In my opinion, foreign channels are not destroying our culture. First we need to understand what culture is its.

1. Rituals (festivals one celebrate) ,
2. Dresses we wore,
3 The food we Eat,
4 Art and our believes.
And more.

Foreign TV channels prime Moto is something else it may be entertainment, knowledge etc. Foreign TV channels can surely introduce us to the culture of different countries it's up to us how we see it. Sometimes we get excited and want to try their food. Dress, culture but that doesn't mean we destroyed our culture, actually, Every citizen of India has the right to practice any culture and promote his own culture to prevent it from being extinct.

So in any way TV channels aren't trying to destroy any culture they just show the different practices, festivals, food, dress etc people in different countries follow.

It's just matter of perspective of a person.

In my opinion I don't think so Indian culture are destroying by foreign TV channel, it provides huge information regarding technology which is very important for today's generation.

Foreign channel reflect their culture and tradition what they have and its up to you whether you adapt or not.

India famous for their culture and tradition across the world but most of the people say that if some person watch foreign channels they forgot their Indian culture they wear jeans, designer cloth etc ya I know these type of cloth came from western culture.

So it's not means that if we Indian wear kurta pajama so we follow Indian culture, Indian people known for their brain sharpness, discipline, respect of their parent etc.

Although foreign channel like discovery, NGO, BBC etc provides knowledge regarding animal, new discovery, gadget, etc which we can't expect by Indian channel.

In my opinion, I partly agree with this statement. Our culture is our identity so its our responsibilities to preserve and protect it. However, it is good to learn something from someone or somewhere which are beneficial for all. Moreover, we can learn a lot from the foreign program, we can learn such miracle things like information about creatures from deep ocean and cultures and customs from the different foreign program. Everything has their both negative as well as a positive part only the difference is that we should analysis right things to enter in our mind and utilize it in a proper way and ignore the bad once which is in our hand. Therefore government should take responsibilities to promote and protect our culture by organizing a variety of program in our local channel and promote it by giving a platform for younger talented people by providing prizes for good actors or actress.

According to my opinion, we cannot blame completely foreign channels for destroying our culture. There is something to learn from everything what we take from these depends on our wisdom. There are channels which are very useful for our education and there are some channels which brings out our hidden talents like axn etc and the cartoon channels are a boon for the children for improving their ideas and for their entertainment. But there are some channels which portray unethical culture. An adult can make a wise decision but this may not seen in the case of kids so there must be adult supervision on such channel which destroy our budding minds of kids as the childhood is the crucial time values of our culture should be learnt by every child as long as the parents and people around the child are responsive in carrying the culture then these channels will never effect our culture.

Talking in favour of the topics I would say yes Indian culture is somewhat affected by the foreign television channels. Though the picturisation, graphics and finally telling the moral of the episode is best of all other television channels along with that some of these foreign TV channels simply attracts the viewers because of their various beauties of presentation.

But, the purity of India is its culture like obeying our elders, respecting senior citizen, knowing about the wrong and right thing from our inner soul which at times tells us not to do the thing which it feels incorrect or wrong is somewhat easily affected by that great western culture TV channels.

Since the great religion tells the beauty of the world simply by their beautiful and sensible words (Such as The Mahabharata, Indian Vedas, The Bible, Quran etc) and not by any vulgarity.

According to me, there are both negative and positive effect of foreign channels on our culture as on one one side small children who are only of 3 to 4 years and should learn good things but are glued to foreign cartoon channels like shin chan and oggy and the cockroaches they are not getting good deeds from that and are spoiling their minds due its Hindi translations it's getting worse if the future of our county will only forget is culture and will adopt these things then what will happen to our country as every coin has two sides these channels also in a positive way forget news channels sports channels are the one who informs us about the world they don't affect our culture but still there is an impression of westernisation is there on our minds foreign news channels even make us modern and connects us to the world.

Hi friends, I am Jagadish.

I wants to express my own view on this gd topic. In my view foreign TV channels are not destroying our culture but it improve our knowledge on the various factors. When we see the channel like historical channel, discovery, BBC, etc. We gets a lot of knowledge basically on English. We gets new knowledge from historical channels, as we gets chances to see many new places, specially the historical places.

We develops our English power when we hear their speaking style, their pronunciation, tone, etc. We also gets a lot of scientific knowledge from foreign channel. It is also developed our general knowledge. Though it has bad effects but it is totally depends on us what to see and what not to see.

So in my view we should except the right thing and left the evil side, so that it will be better for us in future.

The term culture is something which our parents got from our grandparents and which we are getting from our parents and today if we say that by seeing some filthy or some foreigner channel we are losing our culture then I would like to say that this is not the foreign channel which are destroying our culture but this is we people who are not able to adere to our culture firmly.

Friends the only aim of any channel is to entertain the mass and some channel shows this type of programmes to which if some youth watch, it work as an entertainment for them but if same youth watch that same thing with his family it appears vulgarity to them and if we say that if that some youths are watching the vulgar scenes with their family then it doesn't mean that they lacks culture or moral but it is so because they have good understanding between them.
