Foreign Television Channels are Destroying Our Culture

God evening friends, I think all the foreign channels are not bad, also most of the Indian television channels are not good.

Say for instance discovery, NGC, History channels etc are showing many good documentaries, have the quality of info regarding science, history, business, innovative ideas etc.

But in contrary most of the Indian English News channels having the slave mindset adopted from colonial British and Macaulay way of education indulge in airing of biased news, twisting of facts, aligning with one particular community or religion or political party and ignoring attacks and conversions problems faced by other religion and community and also lobbying for foreign imported culture like gay life style and Freedom without any responsibility etc.

And indulge sensationalism and shady journalism, avoiding intellectual debate on national issues and totally ignoring positive aspects of our country and its rich culture, focusing only on spicy, negative and airing news and maligning particular community or organization or individual without any proof.

In fact, some of the documentaries shown in discovery channel on ancient Indian philosophy and pilgrimage site in Himalayas, Kethernath, with the respectful manner along with lines of Upanishads, without western prejudiced view and twisting of facts.

I dnt think so foreign culture destroying our culture. We are blaming others for our mistakes. We all Indians are responsible for destroying our cultures not others. Just 1 eg here suppose if you do good, do hard work for getting success in your work. You will get the best result, its not your neighbor who is getting success. Similarly if you do bad things its affect you not others or others do wrong thing it will affect them not you. So my point is that we should not blame others for our fault.

We are letting ourself to choose the best one whether it is bad good. We can't blame others for our choice. Its up to you what do you want.

I agree that they are accepting western culture its not bad also because if you see number of foreign channels provide good knowledge and information about the new technologies. Nowadays english language become the king of the world. Everywhere we use this lang for eg in corporate world, school, business etc. Without this we can not think ahead if you want to get success in your life in this modern world. Elders suggest us to see english channel to improve language.

Some of the channels are not good so don't prefer it. Its human nature to accept bad thing very easily. So guys at last I want to say that dnt blame others for destroying our culture.

I want to make a point here that it is not the channel that matters, what matters most is the content. How can we ban & blame foreign channels if our own channels are not any less in terms of spoiling our culture. Can we appreciate songs of sunny leone, honey singh & bhojpuri dances? Are they a part of our culture? Absolutely not. So we should first check out ourselves before blaming others.

The second lies in our conservative mentality and due to this the one who suffers the most are our children. From the day he/she is born we start planning & saving for their studies in America and here we are talking of banning foreign channels. Imagine them getting to Harvard the first day and being ragged up because our very cultured children simply can't adjust to this new world, the will feel like aliens and will die of inferiority complex.

In my view the whole world is like a village nowadays and we should try to respect the culture and thinking of all of them. And we should teach our child as well to respect all cultures. The more we restrict them the more we will lose them. So talk to them, tell them & be frank with them. Because remember, TV is not the only medium it is one of the mediums. Internet, magazines, friends are still there.

According to me foreign channels are not destroying our culture even I think that according to the present era some of our Indian channels are trying to destroy our culture.

Its because we all know that from the past few years we see that in our Indian channels more vulgar stuff is shown in TV shows and movies.

We can understand this thing easily by checking out the difference between the older Indian movies and the newer movies shown on our channels, here you will find a big difference in anything like clothes, style, culture etc.

So according to me we are responsible for destroying our culture and not others.

For eg :- if you do hard work for getting success in your work, you will get the best results its not your neighbour who is getting success and if you do bad things it affects you not others.

Foreign channels facilitates us with the latest information, technology etc. All around the world.

And some of the channels which we use to see or heard about from our childhood like discovery which is very helpful for sharpening our brains, so how can we say that foreign channels are destroying our culture.

I know that everything in this world have some advantages and disadvantages also so its upto you which side of the coin you want to choose.

What kind of culture here we are talking about? I mean guys, just think about it. The quality content which we can get from BBC, can we expect that from India TV? definitely not. I am not saying all Indian channels are bad, but foreign channels are providing us the kind of information we need, we get to know whats happening around the world. We are not interested in knowing what a sadhu is doing or teaching, right?

As it has been said, I am totally in favor of foreign channels as I think they have more humor, information which we can't expect from any Indian channel.

Is there any science related or technology related channel in India ? no there is not, but there are few foreign channels which are making us more knowledgeable in every aspect. Here you can find more than 20 religious channels but not even 1 where we are provided with stuff which actually makes us a good human being. People do big talks, but I think its what we perceive that matters. Today in India they is a huge number of people who have open mind to each and every aspect of society which wasn't the case earlier. So I think we all can see that no matter what we talk about foreign channels are indeed making us more wise by opening are narrow mindedness.

Macauley had done enough damage in revamping our education system in introducing English (even though English is a spoken language by 3% minority people all over world) to such an extent that patriotism will never come up for another hundreds of years or rather thousands of years by their policy of divide & rule, which is carried further by any political party for their Vote bank politics. Foreign intruders/invaders have seen to it in thousands of years in the past that no remnants of glorious history in Vedic period remains so that future generations will live with distorted history with slave mentality nurtured by the Westerners in Indian minds.

While handing over freedom, Westerners have seen to it that power is not shared by nationalists like Vallabhbhai Patel etc but purely by their Kala Angrez agents like Nehru since 1947 itself. Indian homes are flooded with foreign branded goods due to brainwashing advertisements over TVs to such an extent that swadeshi goods have lost their identity. Due to paid media in India, now what is remained to harm India & it's culture, even if no Foreign Television Channels are not telecast ?

I agree that its us who has to keep a check on what we are adopting from what we see hence foreign channels can not be held responsible for the deterioration of out culture. But would you still say the same thing about a 10 years old kid who is watching a program in which two foreigners are using the swear words, wearing bikinis and getting intimate? Will you say the kid is responsible for what he is learning from it? Or I should ask- What (else) do you expect the kid to learn from this kind of program's? What we and specially our kids learn from what we watch is sometimes NOT really in our hands. We have to understand that it is the social responsibility of media to see that it is not harming the culture and the youngsters. Media is very powerful and as its said- With power comes responsibility. Yes, it applies to the Indian channels too but because of this fact foreign channels can't get away with it since they are the ones which started all of this.

With this I would like to say foreign channels are responsible for the effects it has on our culture and not only our but on the culture of their country as well.

I have read everyone's view and I am in agreement with many of my friends. I don't think that all foreign channels are bad. Many foreign channels are there which provide us good knowledge about science and technology, about various parts of world, about various types of animals plants, about various minerals. Indian space programmes are not well advanced so some foreign channels provide lots of information about space and its related contents. There are channels which shows talent shows. Based on these foreign channels and programmes many programmes are made in India which provide platform for the talented people of the country to show their talent in front of the world.

Why we go for the negative aspects of it why can't we think of the positive things related to many foreign channels. May be we may not like many things related to their culture but Its not wrong according to them. Why just we can't absorb positive points and discard the negative things.

I want to conclude that just because we don't like western culture we should blame all channels.

I think this topic has both pros and cons.

According to me, foreign channels can be distinguished into two categories: one for entertainment purposes, and the second for educational purposes.

Channels like Discovery, and History TV provide informative and educational content on various topics including science, history, technology, nature, and culture. They often feature documentaries, docuseries, and educational programs that help viewers learn about the world around them. Personally, for me, I learn and gain a lot of information through these channels.

Channels that are for entertainment purposes may raise an issue for youngsters because they may get addicted to the content that channel may be broadcasting, but on the contrary, you may also think of it as a way of relaxation, you may also like watching some of the dramas as they give some good messages.

It depends person-to-person, on how they make use of these foreign channels. I think it's always good to learn something new about the world and you never know it might help you in some other way.

Culture can't be destroyed by a mere foreign channel. It is our mind and duty to understand the our own culture. It obvious that we can get the knowlede of the whole world what the other country people are thinking of our culture. We also know that when vivekananda was allowed to tell on the subject called zero he has given the rite knowledge and culture of India to the world and the world has accepted it.

So telling that culture can be destroy by the foriegn culture is not very rite. Seeing the intresting thing on the foreign channel we can devlope more intresing thing. At the end if you don't know the culture of other how can you diffrenciate. So many evil thing are alredy present in our culture, first we have to delete that like caste system, reservation system etc. So telling about the others culture we must have to look on our own. It is the mind set that adopating foreign culture from channel only, we have now a day internet day we can connect ourself to the world and world can also connect with us.
