Good Morning friends.
May I have your kind attention please?
This is Soundariya.
I would like to add on points to the topic of smart cities. As far I am concerned smart cities are needed to enrich the better life for each and every citizen. Yes, smart citizens definitely need smart cities. First and foremost, I seek smart cities in order to enhance the decrement of crime. There must be better transportation services wherever we want to go, we can't on time due to increased traffic and rate of accidents day by day. Next, the major problem is unemployment, employment should be provided for those who are in need of a job. Due to the increased population, there is no housing facilities for all so that facilities must be provided in smart cities. Poverty-stricken people must not suffer without food, free foods should be provided for them. Hospitals, schools and colleges must have very good infrastructure. Many cities have already implemented and benefitted from this smart city scheme and some cities have invested. Many cities are yet to develop. I conclude that smart cities will provide optimum usage of space and resources along with efficient distribution of benefits. Thank you for this opportunity.
Thankyou.

As topically is about Smart Cities so let focus on What is smart cities? Smart Cities may be defined as-A city which should be equipped with basic infrastructure to give a decent quality life. So, that a city can be developed with basic structure. As per day metropolitan cities can be update day by day but rural Ares they are not till technically update. So a lot of discriminations are ongoing. So government should take necessary steps in that case. 25%people are illiterate in rural. For education sector is needed to update them. To grow up lots of banks, hospitals etc. And it is also eradicated corruption even on metro cities and rural areas as though our cities are technical update but corruption are still alive. Smart cities are not only technical update but also a develop anticorruption society. Electric must be available in each area also. Because our country is not built only some metro cities, but also a lot of semi-urban & rural sector. So government should focus on back Urban & real Ares. Lots of private & government jobs should be available due to lots of unemployment is a big danger to our society. I think if we solve these we developed not only smart cities but also a Smart India.

Yes, India is in need of smart cities because India is still a developing country.
If smart cities are developed then there will be development in economy, technology, infrastructure, the standard of living and most importantly unemployment gets reduced. If a city is sanctioned as a smart city, the govt will develop it as a technology hub, social hub and digital hub, by providing many facilities like modern schools, highly equipped hospitals, good transport facilities, improved water and electricity supply, reduction in pollution (clean and green traffic), many more digital facilities. Mainly the security system provided for the city will also be developed.
Before making a city as a smart city, first the people should be made aware of the computer technology and duties of a decent and hygiene citizen.
Ultimately it is the responsibility of the people to realise that a smart city is a boon for them by the govt and should keep it as a hygiene smart city. The people should get motivated and should mould themselves to become a decent, smart and hygiene citizen of a smart city.
Thus, if the govt and people work towards these smart cities, then surely we can see India in the race of developed countries.

I would like to start discussing this topic with an example. Suppose you visited a recently built government infrastructure which is equipped with modern technologies and facilities. At the first instant, you'll feel very contented thinking that our country is moving very fastly towards development (although I personally believe that it is actually happening when I read about our contributions in space missions etc) but if you revisit that place after two months you will see beautiful graffiti of pan Parag or pan masala on the walls. And the modernized equipment that made you feel proud earlier may be placed deadly now. Also if you move outside the washrooms you can venture to smell that pleasant odor coming out. So what I mean to say is that we really need smart cities for the betterment of our country and people but first what we need is to make our thinking smart. Before dreaming of living in smart cities, every individual of our country needs to change their mindset. We have to spread awareness for education, rules, and regulations, how to utilize our resources like water and electricity efficiently. And when we become successful in this, I think 50 % of the smart city agenda is done.

In my opinion, first of all, we educate the people mentally and physically who live in rural areas as well as in urban areas and educate the importance of smart cities. Because many people aware about the smart cities but they don't follow the rules. They throw the wastage and garbage disposal in front of the houses, roads, markets and the public places. Government should provide the counseling system in many places and should also maintain the top rule and regulation to avoid the spreading garbage.
Nowadays government is focusing on smart cities in some specific areas but what about those people who are still waiting for a better standard of living in nearby places. Thought of smart cities will increase the rate of migration toward the cities and it will increase the crowd once again in cities that lead to the same result as we can see in Delhi the highly populated area.
So if we educate the people and learn them in respect of skills and innovative ideas it may bring the new revolution and transformation in rural areas as well as remote areas.
And later we can definitely become part of more powerful country. I hope it will be happened in upcoming time.
Jai Hind Jai Bharat.

In my opinion, we don't need a smart city, we need a smart country where every citizen would be smart enough.
How many people live in a city?India is a country where maximum people live in rural areas. 80% of the people of our country can not spend more than 20 Rs. In a day. 19% of total poor in the world are from India. These people don't even know whether they have foods tomorrow or not. Many children are suffering from malnutrition. The Government of India still can not provide Basic needs like foods, safe drinking water, education, shelter, medical facility to maximum people of India after 70 years of independence. Unemployment is also a big issue in India. Our country's GDP is increasing but unfortunately, 56% of total GDP is in the hands of only 1% of our people. So rich is becoming richer and poor is becoming poorer.
So, in my opinion, at present, we don't need to focus on smart cities. First, we must focus on how to fulfill the basic needs of poor people. Our mission should be no children with malnutrition, 100% literacy rate, 100% employment. When people become smart enough then government don't need to worry about smart cities. India itself become a smart country.

Hello everyone,
I am Sujit Kumar Bhuyan. I would like to mention something regarding this topic. Yes, we need smart cities not only for our own comfort, it will help to increase the economy of our country. If some cities become smart day to day the demand of country will increase.
In India 50% population is only younger and struggling to get a job because in India job is very less according to population and the age between 18 to 35 are going out of country to get a job and those who have not good financial condition they are joining in various local politic group and misusing their life.
If smart cities will be in our country most of the students who are interested to study higher education, they will be getting more opportunities.
Day to day the system of education is increasing in other countries because of smart cities. To become educated the students from India are going to foreign and spending more money and because of this, the economy of other countries is growing up.
Those who are in rural area and not getting proper information about new generation, they will be getting easier and they should try to change their life system according to the new generation.

Hello, every.
Yes, we really need ' smart cities ' as it is saying that by 2050 near about 70% Indian population will opt for urban living. Basically, smart city defines an eco-friendly and technically smarter in all respect. But before the visualisation of the smart city, I think the government should focus to resolve the existing problems of our nation first, that are.
1. Infrastructure problems as there are lots of pool holes.
2. Poverty.
3. Unemployment.
4. Dumb administration. Politicians woo people with this topics just for their vote banks. As when see from last few years then we can notice that corruption is increasing in trend in these sectors. So with corrupted politicians and administrators, it may be little difficult to imagine any kind of prosperity in our country.
5. Inequality in income. As one of the features of the smart city is own housing but since the ratio of middle and lower class are more so it's not affordable.
6. Population, we also not take it as in minor sense.
So, at last, I would like to say although India needs urbanisation first to eradicate our existing drastic problems which create hurdles to thrive our aim i.e. Smart cities.

As we all know, many people are migrating from rural to urban areas and this number is seemingly increasing and it doesn't limit to India but also applicable to global context. So the need of the hour for cities is to get smarter to handle the upcoming issues related to large-scale urbanisation. Hence, Smart Cities Mission, urban renewal and retrofitting initiative started by Government of India.
Fareen: With the implementation of smart cities programme, Make in India initiative will also boom when the projects like DMIC, CBIC and AKIC comes into real picture which will contribute a lot to the infrastructural and economic growth of smart cities which are located nearby them.
Balu: During recent visit of Bruce Andrews to India, US Deputy Secretary of Commerce, he focused on India's need to address the barriers of doing business which have become roadblocks for extended trade between both countries. According to that trade mission, an agreement has been concluded in the presence of AP's Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu by Leocadia Zak director of US Trade and Development Agency, in regard to extending support to India's objective of developing smart cities.

Friends, first of all we should know the real meaning of smart cities, you know?
The cities which have good networking zone in its area proper transport system well developed and designed railway station, bus stops, airports, establishment of well known MNCS in that particular city, where we can we meet our requirements easily, roads are well developed, ie. Where every rules & regulations are working well, if we have such type of cities then, those cities can be treated as smart cities. We should know the benefits of smart cities -
1. It attracts the tourists from other countries this way currency from various countries is earned and this in good national income.
2. If we have smart cities then other cities also can be developed on the basis of that role model cities.
3 and it is clear to everyone that our country is suffering from unemployment, so there we can create job opportunities. So this is the things and there are many more things that need the smart cities. But there should be smart cities in every state in reasonable ratios.
