In December 2012, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) suspended India's National Olympic committee for not adhering to the former's rules and regulations and for planning to appoint corrupt officials in India\'s National Olympic committee.

Even after this incident, Indian Sports Minister Jitendra Singh is optimistic that the dispute will be resolved and that the suspension will be lifted. For the suspension to be lifted, it is important for the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and India's National Olympic committee to follow IOC's guidelines and rules.

First and foremost, IOA needs to amend its constitution and ban corrupt officials from taking part in IOA's elections. IOC has accused IOA of giving precedence to the Indian government's Sports Code and ignoring the Olympic Charter.

The Olympic Charter clearly states that there should be no government interference; however, the IOA did not abide by this rule and allowed the Delhi court to interfere with its operations.

India\'s dream of hosting the Olympics is not shattered yet because IOC has not de-recognized IOA. IOA has one last chance to make amendments, and if it is successful in doing so, we may be bestowed with the opportunity of hosting the Olympics.

Sadly, the animosity between IOC and IOA is great - IOC has refused to compromise on ethics and has given IOA a last warning. If IOA refuses to abide by IOC's rules or fails to make the necessary amendments to its constitution, IOC may de-recognize IOA at its executive board meeting. And this would shatter India's dream of hosting the Olympics.

Despite IOC's repeated warnings, IOA continues to defy the former's orders "in fact, on October 27, 2013, the IOA special general body held a meeting to amend its constitution but proposed referring the cases of corruption to its own ethics committee, which will then decide on the fate of the accused.

IOA's repeated defiance towards IOC will prove to be costly "IOA may be de-recognized and Indian athletes may be barred from participating in the Olympics and the Asian Games.

IOA will be holding a general body meeting in New Delhi on December 8, 2013, and it is hoped that the meeting will help resolve the dispute between IOA and IOC.

If all goes well and IOA agrees to follow the rules set by IOC, India may be given the privilege and honor of hosting the Olympics.

However, if IOA continues to defy IOC, we may have to bid adieu to our dream of hosting the Olympics.

Yes, in today's situation if other countries are hosting the Olympics then why can't we? Yes, we can say that we are lagging behind in financial status from those countries but now we can dream of hosting the Olympics, as our hon. PM (N. Modi) introduced such a good scheme to make all the black money into white. Demonization is a good step to move towards the removal of corruption and black money. When those black money will be turned into white ones, then obviously we can dream of hosting the Olympics. Because India is a good leading country and can do anything that it dreams.

Yes, I want that our country also hosts Olympics, but it is not possible because as we see last time in Commonwealth, people do lots of corruption which are not good and a drawback for our country. But one day my country also able to host Olympics and there is no corruption in our country and not olympic we lost all of the games which are not hosted in our country now days. Our country is not poor but some people who make it that.

If all the peoples become corruption less so our country leads the world.

Thank you and have a nice day.

Hello everyone,

I would definitely support this idea, that India should host the Olympics. As earlier mentioned below it will attract tourism and even boost it which is beneficial for country's economy etc. But it requires a huge investment which is 'n' times bigger than the profit it might gain from tourism. Also not to forget that India is still a developing nation and yet to be a developed one! It still faces corruption a common term, poverty, unemployment, economy crisis etc. That is why unless some of these issues are solved, it can only be a dream rather than a reality.

Yes, definitely India can dream about it. Nut at the same time, dreaming and achieving are both different and things. And on achieving part, my answer would be in a negative sense. It is difficult for it to host the Olympics games as of now at least as require huge cost which India, as well as any other developing country, might not b in a state to fund. India needs to spend on its infrastructural development and try to overcome the corruption problem.

Yes, why not. We can dream of reaching the sun too. But before hosting the Olympics we should work on some aspects and make sure we don't repeat the mistake again like scam which happen during common wealth games. And I think we should first focus on making our nation grow in other more important fields like economic condition, etc which will help our nation to grow overall. After that, we can surely be held Olympics in India.

Yes, according to me, we can dream of hosting the Olympics in India, as India has just been through demonetization and hence it's national treasure is right now much better than ever before, also India has regained its economy very well ever than before and also by having allies like America, Russia, France and many other powerful countries it will be a good chance for India to prove its worth.

YES, we can dream of it.

But implementing it is a completely different scenario.

Considering the current situation of Indian Government and looking at its past actions like Commonwealth games, the transition of the broadband spectrum from 1g to 2g, and many more events, have shown the corrupt picture of the GOI.

Take the present scenario of the people's satisfaction towards government: very low, because GOI is not spending the plausible amount of taxes taken from their very own people, which in fact chose them in the first place.

When hosting Olympics massive amount of the taxes are spent in things related to Olympics, if that is done the GOI will get a decent reason to deceive people of India, and thereby creating more chaos in the country.
