Hi.
I think Indians, that is we, are not exactly less quality conscious. Even though the poor buy things of low price, with less quality, with a limited income to fulfil their needs, the rest will try to buy things of more durability and quality with respect to their incomes and their willingness to a thing of more sustainability and quality.
Some middle class, who are quality conscious may buy commodities of good quality, when compared to the rich who are reluctant to buy a high-quality thing, will buy medium-level quality with minimal price.
I think the quality consciousness differs from person to person and their willingness to buy a commodity. And we INDIANS, are of the same and income of the consumer is also the main aspect.

Quality is essential everywhere and it's viewed in terms of conformance, fitness to use, the price paid, performance etc. ,
India is a developing country and also a quality conscious one, why the above statement I made is that, people of India and the government of India are becoming more and more conscious of each and every product or work they do, hence the usage of low-quality goods of China are becoming down day by day, the working quality of Indians are enhancing hence Indians are in the highest designated job worldwide too, and it's not the ultimate quality to be achieved, quality is concerned with day to day development and improvement, being a developing country India is in its own conscious about quality.

Hello one and all,
In my point of view we are Indians definitely Quality conscious but it depends on people to people but every want the best quality for example a villager may be not able to purchase branded clothes but he will purchase and check the quality according to price and his pocket but on the other hand he will not compromise to purchase a good quality vegetable and fruits because it easily available in rural area.
A person who belongs to the urban area must purchase branded clothes but for vegetable and fruits he has to compromise it doesn't mean he doesn't choose best but its depend on availability, my point we are quality conscious but it depends on people to people and budget.

Hello, in view quality is a relative term with the budget of any individual or a group.
So what is best for the middle & lower class people may be just good for the upper class, and if you say that because most of the Indian population is poor they are less quality conscious than mot of the world population is poor or lower middle class so that would mean most population is less quality conscious.
It's accepted fact that much of the poor people are lured by the quantity rather than quality its because they are forced by their poverty, lack of facilities, the struggle for survival, unawareness etc.
Hence it would be least analytical to say that Indians are less quality conscious.

Hi Guys,
People Buying capacity come from their income. Whenever any person even tries to buy something so, first of all, he/she considers his/her pocket then they think to buy. So buying a less quality products or high-quality products depend upon person to person in the market if a person is financially strong and that person loves to buy a quality product so that person buys that and vice versa. The Market is a mixture of customers all types of customers visit the market. But yes if we talk about a majority so we can say that people are still facing the problem of unemployment in India so having less money they don't try to think about high-quality products for their use.

Hello, everyone. I want to share my view about the topic.
"Are Indians less Quality Conscious".
I am in both favour and against.
In favour, because India is not a poor country but our mentality is that if we see getting more. Then we select that. However, sometimes it proved as a good decision. But quality always matters this is fact. But in India, there are a number of middle-class people they want to have the good quality product but they have to compromise with more quantity in less money. To maintain their budget.
In against because nowadays people getting aware of buying the good quality product. They don't worry about the money where they see quality.

Hey, I think nobody wants to buy cheap products or low-quality products. But in India, most of the people belongs to a middle-class family. So their annual income is not so high so that they can afford high-quality products. In addition to that influence of the Chinese market in our country has affected so much. As they provide products of the same specification as any branded product but low in quality with a very low market price this created very tough competition in the market so that branded companies are not able to withstand. That why the influence of branded companies are decreasing and this made the easy availability of Chinese products to consumers.

As we know India is 2nd highest populated country after china, so in developing country like India where different level of people live taking from poor -midclass- rich, all three section have their different capabilities of spending i.e. poor people are not more of quality conscious but quantity conscious and they could afford limited to live their life and fulfill needs, talking about mid-class some of them are quality conscious because the believe more in savings and manage to live with less quality service or product and for rich people they can afford for the highest quality. So quality consciousness whole depends on the standard of living in India.

Its Sad to note that Still Indians are not quality conscious and just look into any products price band. And end up buying products of low quality especially food items. Today many Food products sold in the market are unhealthy using cheap variety ingredients and more chemicals. No one has realised to stop buying low quality products because today they are not affected and forget to note that its slow poison to health.
Today high-quality products are only exported and secondary quality products are sold in India to give the low price in India. Make the Change to Buy only Quality products so automatically low-quality products can be removed gradually.

I would like to add to the discussion that in past we were less quality conscious but at present, there is positive growth in the lifestyle of the population, people are becoming aware of the fact that better the quality greater will be the satisfaction they will get.
Still, most of the population resides in the rural part of the country and many of them are financially weak to acquire products of good quality.
So the more the income people will get there will change in taste and preferences and hence it will lead to becoming more quality conscious.
We have taken initial steps to increase per person income but still there is a lot to be achieved.
