Brass gets discolored in the air because of the presence of Hydrogen sulphide. Because the presence of a mixture of hydrogen and sulphide and brass is a mixture of copper and zinc, which has a color very light that's why it happens.

Brass is a copper alloy with the addition of zinc.
Copper is reactive with some materials in the atmosphere at different temperatures.
Exposure to air at normal temperatures results in discolouration (tarnish) due to reaction with sulfur and chlorine compounds and carbonates,
Exposure at high temperatures > 150° C. Results in reaction with oxygen producing red oxides (cuprous) at lower temperatures and brown or black oxides (cupric) at higher temperatures.

It is because the presence of mixture of hydrogen and sulphide and brass is a type of thing which has a color very light and mixture is non temperature (hot and cold type of temperature) so it gets discolored.

I think it's because brass is an alloy and can't be corroded by the others.

Brass does not react with oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide. . Hence, brass gets discolored in air because of the presence of hydrogen sulphide.

Because of chemical reactions.
