Please explain me the answer.

@Pritam.
Number of waves means n value. So suppose n=4 we have l value i.e., azimuthal quantum number of 0,1,2,3 so m=+3 is given so it is obvious that it's 4th orbit so ans. is A.

We need the value of n, which is principal quantum number. M.Q.N =+3 is possible when n=4.

If l = 3 then m = -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3. So 7 orientations are possible answer should be 7.

I can't understand what is the concept of orientation.

Value of m = 0, 1, 2, 3.
If m = 4 then n = 4 because they are four values of m.
If m = 4 then n = 4 because they are four values of m.

Why can't the answer be any values greater than 3?
As here m=3, therefore, n can be 4, 5, 6 and so, on.

It is very easy 1s, 2s, 2p, 3s, 3p, 3d, 4s, 4p, 4d, 4f orbitals.
For 1st orbit only s orbital i.e. 0, for 2nd orbit s& p i.e. 0 for s, then1, 0, -1 for p, next for 3rd orbit, s, p, d orbitals.
i. e. for d, 2, 1, 0, -1, -2 and for 4th orbit, 4s, 4p, 4d, 4f orbitals. For f 3, 2, 1, 0, -1, -2, -3 that's all.
Chemistry is always the BEST.
