GATE, SOURCE, DRAIN AND SUBSTRATE, In some cases the substrate internally connected to the source.

MOSFET has only 3 terminal namely source, drain &gate.please answer me name of 4th terminal.

4th terminal namely called substrate(SS).

Substrate is of either p type or n type like source & drain know, I think we are not taken into account the substrate.

Substrate is not terminal it is material (sio2) etc. So answer is only 3 terminal.

Externally only 3 terminal are available.

If Vsb(source to body voltage) = 0. Then 3 terminal.

If Vsb(source to body voltage) ≠ 0. Then 4 terminal.

It has 3 terminals like JFET. The substrate is the extra one.

4 terminals that are drain, source, gate, and substrate.

A MOSFET has three terminals.

1. Gate
2. Drain
3. Source.

I think, MOSFET - 4 terminals.

Jamir said: (Jul 24, 2016)
MOSFET has 3 terminal only.

Can Substrate be a terminal?

Mohan said: (Mar 17, 2017)
4th terminal is base.

I Think answer 3 or 4 is right beacuse in option this is available and we know that in MOSFET substrate is also a terminal otherwise it is internally built in it thats why we say that MOSTET has three terminal.

Ajayvarma said: (Sep 19, 2017)
Yeah. It may be 3 or 4. According to the design requirements we will take 3 or 4.

4th terminal is substrate terminal.

If Vsb=0 ---3.

If Vsb not equal to zero then 4terminals. That means if sourcr and substrate has different potential then two different terminals will be taken.

3 terminals are conected drain gate source.

The MOSFET (Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor) transistor is a semiconductor device which is widely used for switching and amplifying electronic signals in the electronic devices. The MOSFET is a three terminal device such as source, gate, and drain.

The terminals are;

- Gate
- Source
- Drain
- Bulk

*Bulk may be present or not depending on the application.

Each MOSFET has 4 terminals called body (B), source (S), gate (G) and drain (D).
