The primary winding of a transformer has 110 V ac across it. What is the secondary voltage if the turns ratio is 8?
8.8 V
88 V
880 V
8,800 V
Answer: Option
Explanation:

V2/V1 = N2/N1

Turns ratio = N2/N1 = 8.

V2/110 = 8

V2 = 8 x 110

V2 = 880v.

The transformer's turns ratio formula is :-.

V(primary)/V (secondary) = N1/N2.

The Answer is 13.75 or 8 is the transformation ratio not turn ratio.

13.75 answer turns ratio=n1/n2.

I think you all are wrong.

Because turns ratio means: N1:N2 = 8,
Then voltage ratio: V2 : V1 = N2 : N1 = 1/8,
V2 = (1/8) * 110 = 13.75v.

Turns ratio and transformation ratio are different terms.

Turns ratio = N1/N2.

Transformer ratio = N2/N1.

I agree with you @Umesh.

We know that turn ratio is Vp/Vs = a,

So Vp = 110, a=8.
Now 110/Vs = 8

or

Vs = 13.75.

Please all guys don't get confuse all question in indiabix little bit confuse you should remember K=1/n.

It means Turns ratio= 1/Transformer ratio.

Turns ratio = N1/N2.

Transformer ratio = N2/N1.

Turns ratio is always ratio of primary turns to that of secondary turns N1/N2.

Whereas its the transformation ratio that is the ratio of secondary turns/voltage to primary turns/voltage.

Most people think that turns ratio and transformation ratio are equal but they are are not they are in fact inverse to each other.

Wrong answer are there. First need to clear what is turns ratios?

It N1/ N2. Then answer comes 13.75 v.
