It's so simple. As it's told here that peak value is 12 V over the entire sine wave and there are two halves of sine wave. One is positive half and another is negative half. So, the peak value of positive half would be 12 V and the peak value of negative half would be -12 V. Now if we go for evaluating the average value then we have to calculate in the following way: 12 + (-12)/2 i.e; equal to 0 (zero).

Average value in case of sine wave is given by:

V = (Vp/period of conduction)*sin wt
= (12/2*pi)*sin (2*pi)
= (12/2*3.14)*sin (2*180)
=(12/6.28)*(0)
=0

since sin (n*pi) is always zero..
this expression is generally used for calculating average voltages in case of rectifiers.

Average value = (1/period of conduction)*Vp*sinwt

=(1/2pi)*12*sin(2*pi)

=0
because sin (n*pi) is alwayz equals to zero
here (wt) is also the perios of conduction here one complete cycle means 2*pi= 360 in degree

Average value only calculated for half cycles only. If consider for the full cycle the positive and negative values nullify with each other and resultant becomes zero.

The Average value is defined the half cycle of sine wave that mean positive and negative. Therefore the value will be zero.

Average value is always calculated for half of the cycle. In this case, full complete cycle, average value will be 0.

Start from 0 then max peak +12v to 0 it is half cycle.

Then start from 0 to peak -12v to 0 it is complete one cycle.

Average value means DC value. In the sine wave there is no average value, therefore the average value is ZERO.

The sine wave has the same values for both positive and negative cycles hence the average is equal to zero.

Average value of sine wave over complete one cycle is V = 2*v(peak value)/3.14.
