Where is the transporation charge? |

Cib said: (Dec 23, 2010)

Its given in the pie chart! 10% of total cost. |

Cib said: (Dec 23, 2010)

Alternative Method: Transportation Cost = 82500 (which is 10% of the total cost.) Hence, total cost = 825000 Therefore, cost of 1 book = 825000/5500 = Rs.150 Now, SP is 25% more of this Therefore, (150+25% of 150) = Rs. 187.5 |

How do you get S.P = 125% of C.P |

Anup said: (May 31, 2012)

Let the cost price be Rs 100, then as per the question, 25% of CP i.e Rs 25 more than CP. Hence 100+25. |

Chandresh said: (Feb 3, 2013)

Transportation cost=82500/5500=15. .1*x=15 (x is C P). (or) 15=.1x- - - - - - (1). Selling cost=125% of C P. Selling cost=1.25*x- - - - - (2). Therefore-----> Selling cost/15=1.25x/.1x Selling cost=187.5. |

Let total cost = x. Transportation cost=10% of x=82500. x=825000. Cost of 1 copy=(total cost)/(no. of copies). =825000/5500. =150. Now, (SP-150)*100/150 = 25. =>SP = 187.5. |

Anil said: (Aug 19, 2014)

5500*10% of X=82500. x=150. Now we know SP = C.P[1+P%/100]. THEN WE GET SP = 150*125/100. S.P = 187.50. |

Crazysatish said: (Sep 4, 2014)

10% ------- 82500. 125% ------ ?. ? = 1031250. Then for 5500, for a book cost = 1031250/5500. Answer = 187.50 Rs. |

Deepak said: (Dec 4, 2014)

82500/5500 = 15.00. Which is the transportation cost of a single book. Which is given as 10%. Then find the 125% which is 187.5. |

Khan said: (Sep 8, 2015)

5500*10% => 550. 550 = 82500. 1 = 82500/550 => 150 his price. Now have to make 25% profit. So 150+(25%150) => 187.0 (or remember to find SP =>150*125% = 187.50). |

Satish said: (Oct 2, 2015)

Short cut: (82500/5500) = 0.1(x). 8250/55 = x. Sp = 125%(x). Sp = (125/100)(8250/55). Sp = (5/4)(8250/55) = 750/4 = 187.50. |

Where you get 0.1? |

Bhaskar said: (Jun 25, 2016)

@Satish. How do you get 0.1? |

Anil said: (Sep 5, 2016)

See a simple solution: 5500 books transportation cost = 82500, 1 book transportation cost = ? That would be 82500/5500 = 15. From pie chart, it is given that for 1 book transportation cost is 10% of the total cost price of that book. => (10/100) * cp = 15. Cost price of single book = 150, (sp - cp/cp) * 100 = 25, (sp - 150/150) * 100 = 25, So, sp = 187.50. |

Nice explanation @Anil. |

Akash Singh said: (Sep 4, 2017)

Let's do it in a simple way. 10% = 82500. 125% = 82500/100 * 125. = 1031250. Now divide it by 550. i.e. 1031220/550 = 187.50. |

Naina said: (Oct 7, 2017)

Transportation Cost of 5500 books = Rs. 82500. Transportation cost of 1 book = 82500/5500 = Rs. 15. Also Transportation Cost = 10% of C.P. let C.P. of one book = x, 15 = 10% of x, so, x = 150, cp of 1 book = 150, so, sp of 1 book in order to earn 25% profit = 125% of CP = 125% of 150 = Rs. 187.5. |

Saljoq said: (Mar 13, 2018)

It's quite simple and you don't have to use the assume stuff like let S.P be x n all (if u don't like it) Here wo go, transportation cost of 5500 books is 82500, so transportation cost of one book is 82500/5500 which is 15. As transportation cost (which is 15) is 10% of total C.P, 15 is 10% of total C.P. By dividing 15/10 we get 1% of total C.P which 15/10=1.5. Not multiply 1.5 with respective percentages given in the chart and add all the answers (including 15 which is trans cost) you'll get total C.P which is 150. As profit to be earned is 25%, S.P would be C.P+25% of C.P which is 150+25% of 150 therefore S.P= 150+37.5= 187.5 (answer) Or 125%of 150 which is 187.5. |

I am unable to understand SP =125% of CP. As per @Anup's explanation at the top. 25% profit on 100 rs. CP is 125. how does that become 125% of CP? Isn't S.P = 125% of CP ((100 * 125/100) = 125+100 = 225) here is 225? which is more than 25% profit? Please explain. |

Asif Usmani said: (Sep 9, 2018)

The transportation cost is 82500, the graph says that the transportation cost is 10 % of CP, so CP will be 82500*100/10=825000, now to earn a profit of 25 %, the SP should be 825000 * 25/100 +825000=1031250. This is the SP of 5500 books, so for 1 book=1031250/5500 = 187.5. |

10% = 82500/5500=15 ---------> eq1. 100% = 150(eq1 x 10) 20% = 30(eq 1 x 2) 5% = 7.5(eq 1 /2 ) 125% = 150 + 30 + 7.5 = 187.5. |
