Telangana achieved a major milestone in internal security by being declared Naxal-free in April 2026. This followed the surrender of 42 cadres belonging to the Communist Party of India (Maoist), including key members such as a PLGA commander. The development marked the complete dismantling of the Telangana State Committee of the Maoists. Over the years 2024 to 2026, a significant number of Maoists surrendered, along with a substantial recovery of firearms and ammunition. This achievement reflects the effectiveness of coordinated efforts by state police and central strategies like the SAMADHAN approach to counter Left Wing Extremism.

Tripura attracted significant investment interest worth ₹2,000 crore during a Business Conclave and roadshow organised in Bengaluru. The event was conducted by the state’s Industries and Commerce Department to connect with investors, start-ups, and institutional stakeholders from Southern India. This initiative also served as a precursor to the upcoming ‘Destination Tripura: Business Conclave 2026’ in Agartala. Tripura, a northeastern state that gained full statehood in 1972, is notable for being the second-largest producer of natural rubber in India and shares a long international border with Bangladesh.

Gujarat became the first state in India to deploy an Artificial Intelligence-based investigation tool named NARIT AI for handling narcotics-related cases. Launched in Gandhinagar on April, 2026, the system uses advanced Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) technology to analyse FIRs and assist law enforcement officials. It operates on a secure, closed database to ensure data privacy and reduce errors. The tool provides legal guidance under the NDPS Act, helps identify procedural gaps, and enhances the efficiency of investigations, ultimately aiming to improve conviction rates in drug-related offences.

Maharashtra entered into a significant agreement with the Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup in April 2026, marking a major step toward large-scale economic development. The deal involves an investment of approximately $6.5 billion, targeting sectors such as urban infrastructure, electric mobility, renewable energy, healthcare, and education. Key projects include the development of integrated townships across 1,000 hectares and the deployment of 60,000 electric vehicles. The initiative is focused on the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and aims to boost economic growth, sustainability, and infrastructure development through collaboration with agencies like MMRDA.

A Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) audit conducted between July 2024 and January 2025 revealed significant gaps in the implementation of welfare schemes for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) in Odisha. Despite various initiatives like the Odisha PVTG Empowerment and Livelihood Improvement Programme (OPELIP), about 54% of the PVTG population, roughly 160,000 individuals, remained excluded from benefits. The state has the highest number of PVTGs in India, making such exclusions a major concern. Issues like lack of access in newly identified villages and non-operational agencies contributed to the problem, highlighting administrative and implementation challenges.
