International Vulture Awareness Day (IVAD) was first observed in 2009, an initiative that originated in South Africa and the United Kingdom. The event is celebrated annually on the first Saturday of September, aiming to raise awareness about vultures, a critically endangered group of birds. Vultures play an essential role in maintaining ecological balance as scavengers, helping to prevent the spread of diseases by consuming animal carcasses. Despite often being misunderstood, they are invaluable to both ecosystems and human health.

Arun Goel, a retired IAS officer and former Election Commissioner of India, has been appointed as India's next Ambassador to Croatia by the Ministry of External Affairs. After his retirement in March 2024, Goel was chosen for this prestigious diplomatic role, marking another significant chapter in his distinguished civil service career. His experience in governance and public administration will be valuable in representing India and fostering diplomatic relations between India and Croatia.

The new STPs (Sewage Treatment Plants) under the Namami Gange projects in UP and Bihar focus on improving water quality and reducing pollution in the Ganga River. Air India Group inaugurated a 35-acre Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility at Bengaluru International Airport, aimed at enhancing the country's aviation self-reliance. This facility is set to create 1,200 jobs, support local SMEs, and improve Air India's maintenance and operational efficiency. Developed in collaboration with SIAEC and other industry leaders, this strategic move is expected to transform Bengaluru into a global aviation hub, highlighting Air India’s commitment to expanding its capabilities.
