Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail, also known as the Vande Metro, on September 16, 2024. This new rail service connects Ahmedabad and Bhuj, covering a distance of 360 kilometres in 5 hours and 45 minutes. The train operates at a speed of up to 110 km/h and stops at nine stations along the route. This initiative is part of India's efforts to enhance its rail infrastructure, alongside the launch of other Vande Bharat Express trains on different routes.

The theme song ‘Vote Ka Tyohar’ was launched in Jammu and Kashmir to boost voter participation for the upcoming assembly elections. Operation Sadbhav is a humanitarian relief operation launched by the Government of India to provide assistance to countries affected by Typhoon Yagi, including Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar. The operation is part of India's broader effort to contribute to Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) within the ASEAN region, aligning with its 'Act East Policy'. Under Operation Sadbhav, India has extended assistance worth US$ 1 million to Vietnam, including 35 tons of humanitarian aid, such as water purification items, blankets, and solar lanterns.

Kerala reported its first confirmed Nipah virus infection of the year, with a 24-year-old man from Malappuram succumbing to the disease. Health Minister Veena George confirmed the case after testing by Kozhikode Medical College Hospital and the National Institute of Virology. In response, 16 committees were formed to trace contacts and prevent further spread. Kerala has experienced outbreaks of the Nipah virus in the past, and the state's health authorities are actively working to contain the situation.
