India has acquired the GE-F404 engine from GE Aerospace to power its homegrown Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas Mk 1A. This move is pivotal for enhancing the Indian Air Force's combat capabilities and addressing the urgent need to modernise its fleet as older aircraft like the MiG-21 are phased out. Under a ₹5,375 crore agreement signed in 2021, GE is to supply 99 engines, supporting the production of 83 Tejas jets initially, with plans for 97 more. The integration of the F404 engine, along with advanced features like AESA radar and BVR missile capability, marks a major step in India's indigenous defence development.

India and Greece conducted a joint PASSEX (Passing Exercise) in the Arabian Sea near Mumbai on July 10, 2025. This exercise featured key naval units like the Indian Navy's INS Tarkash and the Greek Navy’s HS Psara. The drill included cross-deck helicopter landings, tactical maneuvers, and communication exercises, aimed at improving interoperability and mutual understanding. It highlights the growing strategic partnership between India and Greece, especially after the relationship was elevated to a Strategic Partnership in 2023. The Indian Army's ‘Prachand Shakti’ military drill was held in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, by the Ram Division under the Kharga Corps. This high-tech demonstration focused on integrating advanced technologies like drones, AI-enabled systems, and loitering munitions into battlefield operations. The exercise aimed to showcase how these innovations can enhance infantry performance in strike operations, making soldiers more agile and resilient. As part of the Army’s ‘Year of Tech Absorption’ initiative, this event also emphasised the importance of indigenous defence technologies and reducing dependency on foreign equipment to strengthen national security and operational readiness.

Australia hosted Exercise Talisman Sabre 2025, its largest bilateral military drill, where India participated for the first time. The exercise involved 35,000 troops from 19 nations, including the US, Japan, and Germany, with activities spanning multiple Australian regions. This participation strengthens India-Australia defence ties and enhances Indo-Pacific security cooperation. The drills included live-fire exercises, amphibious landings, and air combat operations, showcasing advanced military capabilities. India's inclusion reflects its growing strategic role in regional security partnerships alongside key allies. The opening ceremony was held aboard HMAS Adelaide in Sydney, led by Australian and US military officials.

The Astra missile, a Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile (BVRAAM) developed indigenously by the DRDO, was successfully test-fired by the Indian Air Force from a Sukhoi-30 Mk-I aircraft over Odisha. This marks a significant advancement in India's self-reliant defence capabilities. The Astra missile boasts a range of over 100 km and incorporates sophisticated guidance and navigation technologies. Odisha has become a key location for missile testing due to its strategic coastal ranges and established defence infrastructure. This test further strengthens the operational readiness and technological edge of India’s air defence systems.
