Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, launched the Land Port Management System (LPMS) ‘VINIMAY’ in New Delhi on 9 June 2026. The digital platform is designed to modernise border management by integrating cargo handling, passenger movement, vehicle processing, and inter-agency coordination into a single system. LPMS aims to reduce paperwork by around 90%, improve trade efficiency, strengthen security, and enable real-time information sharing among multiple government agencies. The initiative forms a key component of India’s Smart Border strategy, which focuses on technology-driven operations, enhanced surveillance, smoother cross-border trade, and improved connectivity at land ports.

Reliance Industries partnered with Meta Platforms to establish a 168 MW AI-enabled hyperscale data centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The facility is designed to support Meta’s growing global artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and data processing requirements. It is expected to be Meta’s first built-to-suit data centre in India and one of the largest AI infrastructure investments in the country. The project emphasises sustainability through renewable energy-powered operations and seawater-based cooling systems. Reliance Industries will manage the entire infrastructure lifecycle, including design, development, utility management, network connectivity, operations, maintenance, and renewable power supply.

Uttarakhand unveiled the Science, Technology and Innovation Policy 2026 with the objective of transforming the state into a major hub for science, technology, and information technology. The policy emphasises integrating modern research with traditional knowledge and focuses on emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Robotics, Drones, Space Technology, and Nanotechnology. It also proposes the establishment of Science Cities, Planetariums, Atal Tinkering Labs, and advanced Teaching-Learning Centres. The Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology will serve as the nodal agency, while digital initiatives like the STI Observatory will support researchers through improved access to scientific resources and information.

Project Ganga is a rural digital connectivity initiative launched by the Uttar Pradesh government to expand high-speed internet access in underserved rural areas. The project aims to connect approximately 20 lakh families, train around 8,000 digital entrepreneurs, and generate more than one lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities. It focuses on strengthening digital education, telemedicine, e-governance, and technology-based entrepreneurship. The initiative is being implemented in phases, beginning with 21 districts, and seeks to bridge the digital divide by ensuring reliable internet services and creating new livelihood opportunities across rural communities.

Artemis III is a major mission under NASA’s Artemis program and is scheduled for launch in 2027. The mission will serve as a crucial technology demonstration, testing spacecraft rendezvous, docking operations, crew transfer procedures, navigation systems, and integration with lunar landers developed by Blue Origin and SpaceX. The four-member crew includes astronauts from NASA and the European Space Agency, highlighting international cooperation in space exploration. Artemis III is expected to pave the way for future lunar missions, including Artemis IV, and support NASA’s long-term objective of establishing a sustainable human presence on the Moon while preparing for eventual crewed missions to Mars.

Vadhvan Port, located in Maharashtra, is set to host the world's second longest breakwater with a total length of 10.14 km. Afcons Infrastructure Ltd secured a ₹5,301 crore contract for the project from Vadhvan Port Project Limited. The port is being developed as a key component of India's maritime expansion strategy and is expected to become the country's largest public port. With a planned handling capacity of 23.2 million TEUs, Vadhvan Port is also projected to be among the largest container ports globally. The project is expected to strengthen India's trade infrastructure and enhance its position as a major global maritime hub.

Operation Milap was a special statewide initiative launched by the Gujarat Police on 7 May 2026 to trace missing persons and reunite them with their families. Through a combination of technology, field investigations, digital intelligence, and interstate coordination, the operation successfully traced 1,470 individuals within a month. The initiative focused particularly on vulnerable groups such as women and children, while also reviewing long-pending missing person cases. Surat City Police recorded the highest number of recoveries. The campaign highlighted citizen-centric policing, strengthened public trust in law enforcement, and demonstrated the effective use of modern investigative techniques in ensuring public safety and family reunification.

The Ministry of Textiles approved 96 companies under Round-III of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Textiles on June 10, 2026. This includes 22 newly approved applicants in the latest phase. The selected companies have committed a total investment of ₹12,822.67 crore, while the new applicants alone are expected to invest ₹2,339.14 crore. The scheme focuses on promoting Man-Made Fibre (MMF) apparel, MMF fabrics, and technical textiles to strengthen India’s textile manufacturing capabilities. It is also expected to generate significant employment opportunities and contribute substantially to production, exports, and overall growth in the textile sector.

Malaysia’s national oil and gas company, Petronas, signed a long-term agreement with JERA, one of the world’s largest LNG buyers, to supply liquefied natural gas for 20 years. Under the deal, Petronas will provide 2 million tons of LNG annually, with deliveries beginning in 2028. The agreement aims to strengthen Japan’s energy security and ensure a stable supply of natural gas. In addition to energy cooperation, both countries agreed to enhance bilateral trade using local currencies and collaborate in areas such as critical minerals, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, defence, and fertiliser feedstock supply chains.
