The Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA), under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, organized a financial awareness drive aimed at empowering rural women. Conducted in Karnal, Haryana, under the theme “Viksit Bharat ke path par Saksham Naari,” the initiative focused on enhancing financial literacy, promoting safe investment practices, and fostering digital inclusion among women Self-Help Groups. Partnering with SEBI, AMFI, NCAER, and HSRLM, the program sought to strengthen financial independence and informed decision-making among rural women, contributing to inclusive economic growth and women’s empowerment in India.

Egypt announced a major natural gas discovery in the Badr-15 area of its Western Desert, tapping into the Lower Bahariya reservoir. The find is expected to add approximately 15 billion cubic feet to Egypt’s gas reserves, with an initial production rate of about 16 million cubic feet per day. This discovery strengthens Egypt’s strategy to boost domestic energy production, reduce reliance on imports, and position itself as a key energy hub in the region. The Western Desert continues to be an important frontier for hydrocarbon exploration, offering significant economic and strategic benefits through expanded reserves and increased energy security.

INS Savitri, an indigenously built Offshore Patrol Vessel constructed by Mazagon Dock Ltd, Mumbai, arrived at Port Louis, Mauritius as part of an operational deployment. Commissioned on 7 June 1990, the vessel operates under the Eastern Naval Command based at Visakhapatnam. Equipped with a 40×60 Bofors Gun and a helicopter deck for Chetak helicopter operations, INS Savitri is designed for aerial surveillance, search and rescue, and patrol missions. Its visit to Mauritius underscores India’s commitment to maritime cooperation, regional security, and fostering strong bilateral ties with Indian Ocean nations.

The two-day National Conference on the three new criminal laws was held at the National Judicial Academy in Bhopal. The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the premier R&D centre under the Department of Telecommunications, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with IIT Gandhinagar to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) dedicated to telecom and cybersecurity research. Gujarat became the first Indian state to launch a tribal-focused genome sequencing project aimed at tackling genetic disorders such as sickle cell anaemia and thalassemia through precision medicine. Implemented by the Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre (GBRC), the initiative forms part of the national Genome India Project. It focuses on sequencing 2,000 tribal genomes across 17 districts to identify genetic mutations and hereditary disease patterns. By developing affordable diagnostic kits and promoting genetic counselling, the project aims to improve healthcare access for tribal populations while advancing India’s capabilities in biotechnology-driven public health innovation and preventive medicine.
