The International Day of Charity is celebrated on September 5 to commemorate the death anniversary of Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa was a Catholic nun who founded the Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata, India. She dedicated her life to helping the poor and sick, and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.
