It should be thrice as 3/5*3= 9/5.

Flaky = 3/5*mean, i.e mean = 5/3*flaky.

Elongated = 9/5*mean.

= (9/5)*(5/3)*flaky = 3*flaky.

Hence, answer is thrice.

Aggregate is said to be flaky if its size is more than 9/5 of their mean size. i.e 1.8 times of their mean size which is approximately taken as 2 times in this problem.

I agree, the right answer is B.

The size of flaky aggregate is 3/5 =0.6 as well the size of an elongated particle is 9/5=1.8.

When we multiply 0.6 with 3 then the answer is 1.8 which is the size of an elongated particle as mention in the question. So option C is correct.

Given answer is right according to SSC JE 2008 answer key. And the reason behind it according to me, the flaky aggregate is considered to their MEAN dimension and elongated aggregate is considered to their GREATER dimension.

1.8 time mean six size.
