What is bulk density. Could anyone please explain ?

Bluk density is a measurement of soil mass per unit volume of soil.

Bulk density is defined as the dry weight of soil per unit volume of soil. Bulk density considers both the solids and the pore space; whereas, particle density considers only the mineral solids.

The bulk density is the total mass of the soil per unit of its total volume.

The shape and size of container does affect the calculation of bulk density practically, thus Indian standards have specific containers used, on the basis of trial and error methods.

Bulk density means change in volume of any material.

Bulk density is defined as weight of materials per unit volume.

According to the size of the container, the volume will change.

Bulk density means the weight of soil to the unit volume. In this unit volume means container volume. If we change the volume bulk density will change.

Why the size and shape of container do not depend on bulk density?

Bulk density of aggregate = weight of aggregate in a container/weight of water in same container.

Please give me the right answer. If the volume of the container is used, then why option (D) correct?
