If 6 men and 8 boys can do a piece of work in 10 days while 26 men and 48 boys can do the same in 2 days, the time taken by 15 men and 20 boys in doing the same type of work will be:

Let 1 man's 1 day's work = x and 1 boy's 1 day's work = y.

=> Remember :- Worker increases Days decreases.
6*2+3 is 15.
8*2+4 is 20.
4-3= 1,
So 10÷2-1 = 4 days.

What is wrong if I try to solve it like this:
6x+8y=10.

Here; the solution is;.
6M+8B =10 days mean 15M +20B WILL TAKE LESS time than (6m +8B) will more less than half mean less than 5 days the only one option is 4 days.

6x+8y=1/10.
6*1/10+8y=1/10,
8y=4/100,
y=1/200.
In the above solution;
How come 6*1/10+8y=1/10?

(6M + 8B)× 10 = (26M+48B)×2
30M+40B = 26M+48B
M=2, B=1 {their efficiency}
Now, total work = 6×2+8×10 = 200
therefore work done by 15M + 20B = 200/15×2+20 = 4.
30M+40B = 26M+48B
M=2, B=1 {their efficiency}
Now, total work = 6×2+8×10 = 200
therefore work done by 15M + 20B = 200/15×2+20 = 4.

So (3x+4y)get cancelled up and down.
and we get....

So they will complete in 4 days.

See; 26 men +48 boys =74 people would complete a work in 2 day's means nearly half of that 15 men + 20 boys = 35 people would complete the work in 4 days.

in equ 3, take 5 common;
we get:
=5(3x+4y) (3x+4y=1/20)----->//siddu can u explain me this step.
