In a mixture 60 litres, the ratio of milk and water 2 : 1. If this ratio is to be 1 : 2, then the quantity of water to be further added is:
Answer: Option
Explanation:
| Quantity of milk = | ![]() |
60 x | 2 | litres = 40 litres. |
| 3 |
Quantity of water in it = (60- 40) litres = 20 litres.
New ratio = 1 : 2
Let quantity of water to be added further be x litres.
| Then, milk : water = | ![]() |
40 | ![]() |
. |
| 20 + x |
| Now, | ![]() |
40 | ![]() |
= | 1 |
| 20 + x | 2 |
20 + x = 80
x = 60.
Quantity of water to be added = 60 litres.

Ratio= 2+1=3.
Mix= 60litr,
60/3=20,
Ratio= 2:1 then multiply by 20,
2*20=40 and 1*20=20,
Next ratio 1:2.
1 2
40 20 Cross multipy then the value is 80and 20.
80-20 = 60 is the answer.
Mix= 60litr,
60/3=20,

80-20 = 60 is the answer.

In first condition milk+water=40+20.
Now new ratio is 1:2 means value of water is double from milk now milk is already 40 so the value of water is 80. This means we have to add 60 liters water.

Milk 2x:1x water.
Previously 2x+1x=60 litres.
3x=60L.
x=60/3=20litrs.
Previously values = milk - > 2*x=40L.
Water->1*x=20L.
Quantity to be further added in water=x.
40/20+x=1/2.
X=60 L.

very simple way.
The ratio of milk and water :: 2:1
Total mixture of milk and water =60 lits
milk =2x
water=1x
=> lit of milk+lit of water=total lits.
=>2x+1x=60,
=>3x=60,
=>x=20.

2:1 ratio.
M:W
For milk: 2/3*60 = 40 lts milk.
For water: 60-40 = 20 lts water.
1:2 ratio.
M:W.
For water: 2/3*60 = 40 ltrs water.
What he is asked total water mixture i.e 20+40 = 60?

Total milk&water mixture is 60lit
milk&water ratio=2:1
separate milk =(2/3)*60 =40lit
water =(1/3)*60=20lit
new ratio is 1:2
only water added let x
=>(40/(20+x))=1:2
=>x=60lit
milk&water ratio=2:1
separate milk =(2/3)*60 =40lit
water =(1/3)*60=20lit
new ratio is 1:2
only water added let x
=>(40/(20+x))=1:2
=>x=60lit

Milk:Water = 40:20 = 2:1.
But we don't change milk we want to add water to change the ratio so 1:2 = 40:80 already 20liter is there so if we add 60ltr the ratio will come that's all.

Orginal mixture = 60l.
Milk: water = 2:1.
Milk = 60 * 2/3 = 40l.
Water = 60 * 1/3 = 20l.
New mixture ratio = 1:2.
40lmilk + (20+x)l water,
40:20 + x = 1:2,
20 + x = 80,
X = 60.
Milk: water = 2:1.
Milk = 60 * 2/3 = 40l.
Water = 60 * 1/3 = 20l.
New mixture ratio = 1:2.
40lmilk + (20+x)l water,
40:20 + x = 1:2,
20 + x = 80,
X = 60.

For water calculation of 1st ratio.
Water: 60 * 1/3=20 lit
For second ratio the water ratio will be 2/3
So water to be added: [20+(2/3) * 60]=60 lit.
That's the answer is 'D.

The first ratio is 1 : 3.
Quantity of water, 60 * 1/3 = 20,
Another ratio is 2 : 3.
Quantity of water, 60 * 2/3 = 40.
Quantity of water to be added = (20 + 40) = 60 litres.
Quantity of water, 60 * 1/3 = 20,
Another ratio is 2 : 3.
Quantity of water, 60 * 2/3 = 40.
Quantity of water to be added = (20 + 40) = 60 litres.
