In a mixture 60 litres, the ratio of milk and water 2 : 1. If this ratio is to be 1 : 2, then the quantity of water to be further added is:
20 litres
30 litres
40 litres
60 litres
Answer: Option
Explanation:

Quantity of milk = 60 x 2 litres = 40 litres.
3

Quantity of water in it = (60- 40) litres = 20 litres.

New ratio = 1 : 2

Let quantity of water to be added further be x litres.

Then, milk : water = 40 .
20 + x

Now, 40 = 1
20 + x 2

20 + x = 80

x = 60.

Quantity of water to be added = 60 litres.

So the ratio using;
n = a + b/c + d.
2 + 1/1 + 2 = 1.
Q = 1
Therefore,
1*60 = 60litres.

m:w=2:1
m+w=60
2x+x-=60
x=20.

m=40 w=20.
Added water be y.
40:(20+y) = 1:2.
On cross multiplication
y=60.

Here, we can't just add different quantities of water.

So from the first case we got milk = 40 litres and water = 20 litres, now to make the ratio from 2:1 to 1:2.

So, the Amount of milk in the new mixture = 2 x milk in the old mixture = 2 x 40 litres = 80 litres, so the difference in water quantities = 80 - 20 = 60 litres.

The ratio of milk and water in 60L is;
m=2.
w=1 (2+1)=3,
milk = 2/3, water=1/3.

milk in 60L = 2/3 * 60= 40L.
water in 60L = 1/3 * 60= 20L,
40:(20+60)=4:8= 1:2.

Orginal mixture = 60l.
Milk: water = 2:1.
Milk = 60 * 2/3 = 40l.
Water = 60 * 1/3 = 20l.

New mixture ratio = 1:2.
40lmilk + (20+x)l water,
40:20 + x = 1:2,
20 + x = 80,
X = 60.

Total = 60.
Milk: water 2:1 means 40:20.
60*40/20 = 120.
1:2 new ratio, then water added
120 = 40:80.

Then,
120*40/80 = 60.
Thank you.

Its very simple one drum of sixty litter quantity only;
1 . 2:1 that means 40 : 20 -40 milk and 20 water
2. 1:2 that mean 20:40-20milk and 40 water.

If we add both 60 kg water, further we want to it be 0:3 only 60 litter water.

The initial quantity of milk=(2/3)*90 = 60,
Initial quantity of water=(1/3)*90 = 30,
If the ratio is to be 2:3 the water to be added;
(60÷(30+x)) = 2/3,
X = 60.

By Using the relation,

X(ad-bc)/c(a+b)

We get,
= 60(2×2-1×1)/1(2+1),
= 60(4-1)/3,
= 60.

2x + x = 60,
x = 20.

Then milk =2*20 = 40,
water = 20.
New ratio=sum of mixtures(new)
1:2 = 40+20+x,
3x = 60+x,
x = 30.
Now, water to be added = 2 * 20 = 60.
