In a mixture 60 litres, the ratio of milk and water 2 : 1. If this ratio is to be 1 : 2, then the quantity of water to be further added is:
20 litres
30 litres
40 litres
60 litres
Answer: Option
Explanation:

Quantity of milk = 60 x 2 litres = 40 litres.
3

Quantity of water in it = (60- 40) litres = 20 litres.

New ratio = 1 : 2

Let quantity of water to be added further be x litres.

Then, milk : water = 40 .
20 + x

Now, 40 = 1
20 + x 2

20 + x = 80

x = 60.

Quantity of water to be added = 60 litres.

This Question can also be solved as:

2x/x = 60,
X = 30.
New ratio is 1:2.
Where 1 part is milk.
Nd 2x is water put the value of x.
Hence water = 60.

m-2:1-w.
m-1:2-w.
2:1 4-1=3 difference by addition of water,
2:4
3 * 60/3 = 60.

Hey guys, I am going to ask one question. The question is here;

In a city, 40% of the adults are illiterate while 85% of the children are literate. If the ratio of the adults to that of the children is 2:3, then what percent of the population is literate?

Milk:Water = 40:20 = 2:1.

But we don't change milk we want to add water to change the ratio so 1:2 = 40:80 already 20liter is there so if we add 60ltr the ratio will come that's all.

How take 2/3? Please explain.

M:W (initial mixture)
2:1
1:2(required).

Given total volume = 60ltrs.
As milk is not added we the ratio of milk need to be same in both the cases.
2*(1:2)=2:4(required).
2:1(initial).
4-1=3(difference in water in both cases).
2+1=total volume (60).
3-----> 60.

From this, we can say another 3 parts were added to get the required ratio.

To change a 60-litre milk: water mixture from a 2:1 ratio (40L milk, 20L water) to a 1:2 ratio, add 60 litres of water so the final mixture (40L milk, 80L water) has twice as much water as milk. And moreover, if we see the ratio to be converted is 1:2.

Then the quantity of water to be added is 60l.
