In a mixture 60 litres, the ratio of milk and water 2 : 1. If this ratio is to be 1 : 2, then the quantity of water to be further added is:
20 litres
30 litres
40 litres
60 litres
Answer: Option
Explanation:

Quantity of milk = 60 x 2 litres = 40 litres.
3

Quantity of water in it = (60- 40) litres = 20 litres.

New ratio = 1 : 2

Let quantity of water to be added further be x litres.

Then, milk : water = 40 .
20 + x

Now, 40 = 1
20 + x 2

20 + x = 80

x = 60.

Quantity of water to be added = 60 litres.

m-2:1-w.
m-1:2-w.
2:1 4-1=3 difference by addition of water,
2:4
3 * 60/3 = 60.

Hey guys, I am going to ask one question. The question is here;

In a city, 40% of the adults are illiterate while 85% of the children are literate. If the ratio of the adults to that of the children is 2:3, then what percent of the population is literate?

Milk:Water = 40:20 = 2:1.

But we don't change milk we want to add water to change the ratio so 1:2 = 40:80 already 20liter is there so if we add 60ltr the ratio will come that's all.

M:W (initial mixture)
2:1
1:2(required).

Given total volume = 60ltrs.
As milk is not added we the ratio of milk need to be same in both the cases.
2*(1:2)=2:4(required).
2:1(initial).
4-1=3(difference in water in both cases).
2+1=total volume (60).
3-----> 60.

From this, we can say another 3 parts were added to get the required ratio.
