1.
Father is aged three times more than his son Ronit. After 8 years, he would be two and a half times of Ronit's age. After further 8 years, how many times would he be of Ronit's age?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Let Ronit's present age be x years. Then, father's present age =(x + 3x) years = 4x years.
![]() |
(4x + 8) = | 5 | (x + 8) |
2 |
8x + 16 = 5x + 40
3x = 24
x = 8.
Hence, required ratio = | (4x + 16) | = | 48 | = 2. |
(x + 16) | 24 |

Simply;
Ronith's present age = x.
Father's age=3 times more than Ronith's age.
So, x + 3x = 4x.
So, after 8 years, 4x + 8 = 5/2(x+8) by doing the calculation we will x = 8.
Further 8 years:
Now we are in the present stage, so they have asked for a further 8 years,
So, a further 8 years and an additional 8 years =16 years.
=> 4x + 16/x + 16+2.

Son- x father- 3x BUT, it is said MORE than 3 times so x +3x= 4x.
Now, 8 years ahead, son= x+8 and father= 5/2*(x+8).
---> (x+8)=5/2*(x+8),
---> 2(x+8)=5(x+8),
---> 2x + 16= 5x + 40,
---> x= 8 - sons age.
father is 4x= 4*8= 32.
NOW, in total 16 years is asked from the beginning,
So, sons age= 8+16= 24,
Fathers age= 32+16= 48,
48 is 2 times of 24!.
Now, 8 years ahead, son= x+8 and father= 5/2*(x+8).
---> (x+8)=5/2*(x+8),
---> 2(x+8)=5(x+8),
---> 2x + 16= 5x + 40,
---> x= 8 - sons age.
father is 4x= 4*8= 32.
NOW, in total 16 years is asked from the beginning,
So, sons age= 8+16= 24,
Fathers age= 32+16= 48,
48 is 2 times of 24!.

Hi Sharaddha here sum explansn to your doubt.
As you said Father's age is three times then son's age.
Here x or 1x both are same, I think you done this way.
"X", to this three times as 1x, 2x, 3x.
This way u'll get 3x, but we know X and 1X are same so.
To X (or 1X both are same) it is three times as 2x, 3x, 4x.
Now the F's age is X+3X=4X.

Father F and Rohit R.
So, F = 3R + R = 4R.
After 8 years,
F + 8 = 2 1/2 (R + 8) means, F + 8 = 5/2 (R + 8).
So, 2(F + 8) = 5R + 40,
2(4R + 8) = 5R + 40,
8R + 16 = 5R + 40,
3R = 24,
R = 8.
Rohit's present age = 8 years.
After 16 years of present day (8 + 8).
Ratio would be F + 16/ R + 16.
So, 4R + 16/R + 16,
4(8) + 16/8 + 16 = 48/24 = 2.
So, F = 3R + R = 4R.
After 8 years,
F + 8 = 2 1/2 (R + 8) means, F + 8 = 5/2 (R + 8).
So, 2(F + 8) = 5R + 40,
2(4R + 8) = 5R + 40,
8R + 16 = 5R + 40,
3R = 24,
R = 8.
Rohit's present age = 8 years.
After 16 years of present day (8 + 8).
Ratio would be F + 16/ R + 16.
So, 4R + 16/R + 16,
4(8) + 16/8 + 16 = 48/24 = 2.

My doubt is; in the question, it is given "Father has aged 3times the son" then how father's age will be x + 3x = 4x? If 4x is father age then it will become wrong. right?
Ex. Let son age be 2 years, father age will be 8years (4x, as given in explanation). Then how it will be correct?
Anyone, explain this to me.

Let us assume Ronit age is 10 years, Father age is 3 times of Ronit age, so 10*3 = 30 years.
After 8 years Ronit age will 18 years father age will be 2.5 times of son age, so 2.5*18 = 45 years.
After 8 years father age would be 45 + 8 = 53 years and Ronit age would be 26 years.
So, 53/26 = 2.03.
Answer is 2 times.

Father's age is 3x + x = 4x.
After putting 4x in the equation of 4x + 8 = 5/2(x + 8), then I got 8.
Further, I found that son's age is 8 and father's age is 32 because F = 4x.
Later I made an equation F's age + 8 = Son's age + 8 * y (i.e. F + 8 = 8 + 8 * y). I can't find the solution.
Please help me out.

Let's Ronit present age be x.
Father's present age =3x.
After 8 yrs,
Ronits age = x+8.
Fathers age =3x+8.
3x+8=2.5(x+8)
X=24yrs.
Fathers age = 3x =3*24=72yrs
After a further 8 yrs,
Fathers age =72+8=80yrs,
Ronit's age=24+8=32yrs.
No.of times father age to Ronit age =80/32.
Then we get 2.5times(ans).
Father's present age =3x.
After 8 yrs,
Ronits age = x+8.
Fathers age =3x+8.
3x+8=2.5(x+8)
X=24yrs.
Fathers age = 3x =3*24=72yrs

Ronit's age=24+8=32yrs.
No.of times father age to Ronit age =80/32.
Then we get 2.5times(ans).

Let Rohit age=X.
By condition:Fathers age=X + 3X,
After 8 yrs,
Fathers age=5/2(X+8).
So, 4x+8=5/2(x+8).
8x+16=5x+40.
X=8.
Sub x=8 in 5/2(x+8).
Ans:40.
After 8 yrs,
40+8=48.
Sons age present=8,
After 16 yrs, age=24,
24*2=48.
So, the answer is 3 times.
Thank you
