A man is 24 years older than his son. In two years, his age will be twice the age of his son. The present age of his son is:
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Let the son's present age be x years. Then, man's present age = (x + 24) years.
(x + 24) + 2 = 2(x + 2)
x + 26 = 2x + 4
x = 22.

Son age x,
Father age x+24,
After two year mean you will add 2 in both side.
(x+24+2) = (x+2).
Father age is twice as son age i.e. (x+24+2) = 2(x+2).
x+26 = 2x+4.
::22 = x.
But in question he asked present age of son so we have to subtract 2 the answer will be 20 right?

Isn't it 20 years?
He is 22 years only after 2 years. To find the present don't we have to subtract 2years from 22?
Please tell me.

The Important thing is when man's age increases by two means son also grows by 2.
M = S + 24.
M+2 = (S+2) * 2.
S + 26 = 2S +4.
S = 22.
M = S + 24.
M+2 = (S+2) * 2.
S + 26 = 2S +4.
S = 22.

@Srikanth.
In another 2 years, son's age X will become X+2. So it is written as X+2.
Hence in question after two years father age will be twice of son's age so 2 (X+2).

Age difference will be 24.
And after 2 years father's age will be twice as son's age. So 14, 18, 20 will not be answer.

Here we assumed as the sons's present age as x. And through the problem we are finding the value of 'x'.that means present age.so no need to subtract that 2 years from 22. The son's present age is 22.

Let's son age =x
Father age= -+24
The ration between father and son is always equal,
X=x+24.
After 2 years;
Father age also increases and don age also,
X+2= x+24+2.
But we have one condition,
After 2 years father age is twice than son age,
So.
2(x+2)= x+24+2.
Simplify;
2x-x =24+2-4,
X=22,
X is son age =22.
According to the question
When son age is 1-year father is 24 years.
1:24
Now, when son age is 22.
Father age= 22+24=46 years.
Father age= -+24
The ration between father and son is always equal,
X=x+24.
After 2 years;
Father age also increases and don age also,
X+2= x+24+2.
But we have one condition,
After 2 years father age is twice than son age,
So.
2(x+2)= x+24+2.
Simplify;
2x-x =24+2-4,
X=22,
X is son age =22.
According to the question
When son age is 1-year father is 24 years.
1:24
Now, when son age is 22.
Father age= 22+24=46 years.
