A man is 24 years older than his son. In two years, his age will be twice the age of his son. The present age of his son is:
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Let the son's present age be x years. Then, man's present age = (x + 24) years.
(x + 24) + 2 = 2(x + 2)
x + 26 = 2x + 4
x = 22.

Son age x,
Father age x + 24,
(x + 24) = x -----------> equation 1.
After two year mean
[A]. 14 years + 2 = 16
[B]. 18 years + 2 = 20
[C]. 20 years + 2 = 22
[D]. 22 years + 2 = 24
Substitute [A].14 years + 2 = 16 in equation 1
(x + 24) = x
16 + 24 = 16
40 = 16 ( false ).
Substitute [B].18 years + 2 = 20 in equation 1.
(x + 24) = x
20 + 24 = 20
44 = 20 ( false ).
Substitute [C].20 years + 2 = 22 in equation 1.
(x + 24) = x
22 + 24 = 22
46 = 22 (false).
Substitute [D].22 years + 2=24 in equation 1.
(x + 24) = x
24 + 24 = 24
48 = 24
2[24] = 24 (true).
His age will be twice the age of his son.
So, the answer is Option D.
Father age x + 24,
(x + 24) = x -----------> equation 1.
After two year mean
[A]. 14 years + 2 = 16
[B]. 18 years + 2 = 20
[C]. 20 years + 2 = 22
[D]. 22 years + 2 = 24
Substitute [A].14 years + 2 = 16 in equation 1
(x + 24) = x
16 + 24 = 16
40 = 16 ( false ).
Substitute [B].18 years + 2 = 20 in equation 1.
(x + 24) = x
20 + 24 = 20
44 = 20 ( false ).
Substitute [C].20 years + 2 = 22 in equation 1.
(x + 24) = x
22 + 24 = 22
46 = 22 (false).
Substitute [D].22 years + 2=24 in equation 1.
(x + 24) = x
24 + 24 = 24
48 = 24
2[24] = 24 (true).
His age will be twice the age of his son.
So, the answer is Option D.

A man is 24 years older than his son.
Let us take son's age as X. So, father's age will be X+24.
In two years, son's age X+2.
Father's age X+24+2 = X+26.
His (Father's) age will be twice the age of his son.
X+26 = 2(X+2) (Twice the age of his son. So twice Son's age).
X+26 = 2X+4.
22 = X.
By solving, X = 22.

Son age x,
Father age x+24,
After two year mean you will add 2 in both side.
(x+24+2) = (x+2).
Father age is twice as son age i.e. (x+24+2) = 2(x+2).
x+26 = 2x+4.
::22 = x.
But in question he asked present age of son so we have to subtract 2 the answer will be 20 right?

He said father's age will be twice not son's age.
If assume son age is x so father age will be 2x.
As we solved x = x+2 and x+2+24.
Please correct me?
