2.
Two students appeared at an examination. One of them secured 9 marks more than the other and his marks was 56% of the sum of their marks. The marks obtained by them are:
39, 30
41, 32
42, 33
43, 34
Answer: Option
Explanation:

Let their marks be (x + 9) and x.

Then, x + 9 = 56 (x + 9 + x)
100

25(x + 9) = 14(2x + 9)

3x = 99

x = 33

So, their marks are 42 and 33.

Let one student obtain x marks.
So, another obtained x+9 marks.
According to the question;
X+9 = 56/100'- (2x+9).
By cross multiplying.
3x = 99.
x = 33.
So, one obtained 33 and another obtained 33 + 9 = 42 as x+9.

Total 100%.

A have 56%.

i.e B = 100%-56% = 44%.
A have 9 mark more than B,
i.e A - B=9.
56% - 44%=9,
12% = 9,
4% = 3.

A = 56% / 4% = 14%.
14 * 3 = 42.
B = 44 %/4%
B = 11 * 3 = 33.

so, A = 42, B = 33.

Took 25 minutes to crack the stupid nut. The commonly confused place is (56%o of TOTAL marks so it is written as (x+9) +x where x is marks scored by one person and x+9 is marks scored by the later.

Hi, can you please explain it came?

Then, x + 9 = 56 (x + 9 + x)
100
25(x + 9) = 14(2x + 9).

If we divide with 4 by 56/100 then the answer is 25 and 14. My question is how 4 came into picture?

I couldn't understand the question. In question it is given. No.of student = 2 and one secured 9 marks more than other. Upto this clear I'm. What's the meaning of, 56% of their sum of their mark.

It's actually very simple!! If 1 student got 56%, then other student % must be 100-56%=44%.

Now 56%- 44%=12%.
12%=9(the difference between the marks of both the students).

You can solve it now!

Total mark% = 56.
Then the remaining percentage= 100 - 56 = 44%.
Difference percentage = 56-44 = 12%.
Then the difference mark= 9.
So, 12 percentage = 9 then what percent = 56% = 42.
42-9 = 33.

Let marks be of st A=x, and st B = x+9.
Then,

x+9=56/100(x+x+9).
100(x+9)=56(x+x+9).
100x+900x=56x+56+504,
100X+900= 112x+504,
112x-100x=900-504.
12x=396,
x=396/12,
x=33,
x+9=33+9 = 42.

Let both of them be A and B.
Given A= 9+X and B = x.
Also A = 56% of their total marks;
So, A = 56/100 * (9+x+x).

Where A= 9+x.
By equating we can get x value 33.

A = 33+9 = 42.

Difference of the both students marks:

56% - 44% = 12%.
Difference is = 9
12% = 9
1% = 9/12
100% = 9*100/12 = 75.

Total marks = 75.

56% of total marks = 75*56/100 = 42.
42-9 = 33.
