Two students appeared at an examination. One of them secured 9 marks more than the other and his marks was 56% of the sum of their marks. The marks obtained by them are:
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Let their marks be (x + 9) and x.
Then, x + 9 = | 56 | (x + 9 + x) |
100 |
25(x + 9) = 14(2x + 9)
3x = 99
x = 33
So, their marks are 42 and 33.

How do you come on this step
x + 9 = 56/100 (x + 9 + x)
25(x + 9) = 14(2x + 9)
Please explain in simple way.
x + 9 = 56/100 (x + 9 + x)
25(x + 9) = 14(2x + 9)
Please explain in simple way.

@Archana:
Divide 56/100 by 4 and you'll Get 14/25
bring the 25 to L.H.S
and you will get
25(x+9)=14(x+9+x)
now add two x's in R.H.S
25(x+9)=14(2x+9)
Divide 56/100 by 4 and you'll Get 14/25

25X+225=28X+126
28X=25X+225-126
28X=25X+99
28X-25X=99
3X=99
X=99/3
X=33
Ans:x=33; x+9=33+9=42.
28X=25X+225-126
28X=25X+99
28X-25X=99
3X=99
X=99/3
X=33
Ans:x=33; x+9=33+9=42.

No confusion. Listen.
Assume total marks will be 100,
One student=x+9.
Another=x.
So,
For 100 he scored 56, so what marks for them so (x+9+x).
56/100* (x+9+x).
Now x+9 is student 1: So equate,
x+9 = 56/100* (x+9+x).

By question let first scoted x marks
then 2nd x+9
sum of ther marks {x+x+9}
not by ques the student who ha s scored x+9 marks = su m of marks of both students ie x+9=2x+9 of 56%
solve it now
then 2nd x+9
sum of ther marks {x+x+9}
not by ques the student who ha s scored x+9 marks = su m of marks of both students ie x+9=2x+9 of 56%
