Answer: Option
Explanation:

Work done = 5
8

Balance work = 1 - 5 = 3
8 8

Let the required number of days be x.

Then, 5 : 3 = :: 10 : x     5 x x = 3 x 10
8 8 8 8

x = 3 x 10 x 8
8 5

x = 6.

From 8/8 of total work, 5/8 part done in 10 days.

For one part he took 2 days.
10/5 = 2.

Then balance 3/8 part he will take.
3x2 days = 6 days.

5/8 work completed in 10 days.

Total work will complete = 10*(8/5) = 80/5 = 16.

Therefore remaining work (1-5/8) done on = 16-10 days = 6 days.

Take the problem in the following way:.

A man can complete 5/8 of a work in 10 days. How long does it take to complete 3/8 of the same work?

@Chandrasekar

Its too simple logic..

Consider the work done be 1.

They have completed 5/8 of work.

So remaining is 1-(5/8)=(8-5)/8=3/8

In 1 day (5/8)/10 = 0.0625 part work is done.

Hence,

No.of days taken to complete this = 1/0.0625 = 16.

Remaining days = 16-10 = 6.

5/8 of the work could be completed in 10 days.
So, full work could be completed in 10*8/5 = 16 days.
Extra days = 16 -10 = 6 days.

It's so simple:

Total of 8 parts 5 parts done in 10 days:

Remaining 3 parts in 6 days:

1 part = 2 days.

Job Day(s).
5/8 10
1/8 10/5=2
8/8
(i.e.=1) 2X8=16

Remaining Days = 16-10 = 6.

5/8 job = 10 days,
1 job = 10 * 8/5,
1 job = 16 days,
16 - 10 days = 6 days.
