On 8th Dec, 2007 Saturday falls. What day of the week was it on 8th Dec, 2006?
Sunday
Thursday
Tuesday
Friday
Answer: Option
Explanation:

The year 2006 is an ordinary year. So, it has 1 odd day.

So, the day on 8th Dec, 2007 will be 1 day beyond the day on 8th Dec, 2006.

But, 8th Dec, 2007 is Saturday.

8th Dec, 2006 is Friday.

After noticing many questions & problems based on this type. I finally observed these 2 key points which are:

1) We Subtract the day(s) number(odd or even) when we are asked in backward similarly.

2) We Add the the day(s)number(odd or even) when we are asked in forward.

eg:- For this question it was asked 8th dec 2006 providing 8th dec 2007.

Here goes the procedure:

Since neither 2006 nor 2007 is leap, we have ONE odd day.

As we are asked the day just subtract that ONE from the day given.

Implies we get Saturday-1=FRIDAY & that was the answer.

Every year divisible by 4 is a leap year. In your case 2006 is not divisible by 4, so it is not a leap year, hence it is an ordinary year.

One more thing is that; no century is a leap year...for example : 100, 200, 300, 500, 600, 700 and so on.......But every fourth century is a leap year...for example : 400, 800, 1200, 1600, 2000 so on.........

Please go through the formulas from the following link :

Cheerio!!

Step1:No.of odd days 2000=0.
Step2:No.of odd days 2001 to 2005=2+4=6.
Step3: No.of odd days-jan to Dec-8=342 (48 weeks+6 days=6.

Total No.of odd days=0+6+6=12/7=5 odd days 5 odd number is Friday. The answer is Friday.

The tricks say;

Find the difference of year 2007-2006 = 1.
And no of leap year between this two year is zero then,
0+1=1.
Then,
Saturday + 1 day = Sunday.

Hi friends!

Does it is necessary the question should be like from "8 DEC" 2001 TO "8DEC" 2005?

Can the question be like "8 dec"2001 to "10 dec" 2005?

There will be 2 odd days in 8 december 2006 to 31 december 2006.

31-8 = 23/7 = remainder = 2.

How there will be 1 odd days?

Can anyone explain me why we are subtracting when it says beyond 1? And in another q when it says beyond they are adding.

Anyone could tell me why we are not considering 2007's odd day, why only 2006's odd day Is considered?
