Directions to Solve

In each of the following questions two statements are given and these statements are followed by two conclusions numbered (1) and (2). You have to take the given two statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance from commonly known facts. Read the conclusions and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows from the two given statements, disregarding commonly known facts.

Give answer:

  • (A) If only (1) conclusion follows
  • (B) If only (2) conclusion follows
  • (C) If either (1) or (2) follows
  • (D) If neither (1) nor (2) follows and
  • (E) If both (1) and (2) follow.

Some mangoes are said yellow OK but not said all and in (1) some mangoes can be green also then why should not following (1).

You guys are missing the point, a third diagram is possibly right, where tixo covers all of yellow and a part of mangoes.

Tixo is a mango which is green in color not yellow or pink.

Tixo is a mango whose colour is not known because Some + Some give no conclusion.

When deals with venn diagrams it is better to follow minimum overlap rule, ie, in this case, first diagram will do and no common facts logic to be applied, like, tixo means green mango etc.

Some mangoes are green is not true because it is not mentioned anywhere in statement. Tixo is a yellow is also not true because you cannot say for certain that it is yellow. It may or may not be yellow. Thats neither.
