Directions to Solve

In each of the following questions two statements are given and these statements are followed by two conclusions numbered (1) and (2). You have to take the given two statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance from commonly known facts. Read the conclusions and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows from the two given statements, disregarding commonly known facts.

Give answer:

  • (A) If only (1) conclusion follows
  • (B) If only (2) conclusion follows
  • (C) If either (1) or (2) follows
  • (D) If neither (1) nor (2) follows and
  • (E) If both (1) and (2) follow.

9.

Statements: Some cows are crows. Some crows are elephants.

Conclusions:

  1. Some cows are elephants.
  2. All crows are elephants.

Only (1) conclusion follows

A valid conclusion must satisfy ALL the venn diagrams possible.
If u have two conclusions that satisfy one of the two given venn diagrams...then it'll be 'either 1 or 2'.
Hope this'll help u out a li'l...:)

If it says that all cows are crows then it is possible that some cows are elephants...hence if some cows are crows then its lesser chances that some of them are elephants..i know its not proper but that is how i cram it... :)

Why don't we consider second diagram?

By looking second diagram Conc I follows. And Conc II does not follows, then your answer is D. Can you explain it?

If possible then please upload some more instruction how to draw all venn diagram for all the cases.

Isn't a true since we are allowed to refer to the second diagram, ans some cows are still elephants since they are both partof crows, isnt it?

But its an "or" between venn diagrams so any one can be true.

It must satisfy all the venn diagrams. If any one is left than its not true.

I think option D is incrct because according to 2nd diagram option A is correct. So please send correct way to find the conclusion.
