Two cars start from the opposite places of a main road, 150 km apart. First car runs for 25 km and takes a right turn and then runs 15 km. It then turns left and then runs for another 25 km and then takes the direction back to reach the main road. In the mean time, due to minor break down the other car has run only 35 km along the main road. What would be the distance between two cars at this point?
65 km
75 km
80 km

It will take 90 because it is mentioned that the car was going to the main road.

@All.

In the question, it is said that two cars on the main road. That means the second is still on the main road whereas the first car travelled a right side of the main for 15 km. It formed the right-angled triangle. For the two cars present positions, then the options given are not correct.

Please clarify my doubt

I want to ask that in this question both the car start at the same time right?

But after that it says that first car run 25 km and then take right with 15 km and then turn left
Here the distance travelled by 1st car is 25+15+25=65.
And 2nd car travel 35 km.
So 150-[65+35]=50 .
It should be like this right?

Please clear me.

1st car has run 25, 15 and 25 km and then back again, but how many km he backed is not mentioned here, besides this, Why 15 km is not added with 50 as 1st car has run 25 km and took right turn and run 15 km and took left turn and run another 25 km?

Please, someone, make it clear.

A to B is 25 and equally, A to C is 25, we take A->C (25) and from C-> D (25) so from A -> D, the total distance is 25+25=50 and E->F (35).

Finally, we subtract 50+35=85 from Total (150).

Total distance by IST car along the road =25+25=50,
Convered distance =150-50=100m,
Distance covered by 2nd car =35m,
Now distance between them =100-35=65m.

Thanks.

I think that the main confusion is about how to interpret " take the direction to reach the main road". if condition allows, the 1st car is going to turn left and reach the main road (that is what the question is looking for).

Thus, when the 1st car reaches the main road, it has moved on the main road direction 25+25=50 km towards the other car. The other car moved 35km closer, i.e. the they are 85 km closer than when they first started from. 150-85=65km

I think the given answer figure is confusing.

Redraw the figure as. Car A first moved 25 km along the main road then took a right turn and moved 15 km and so.

Now if A takes the direction back (ie: moved towards the main road) we the distance 50 Km.

Now, 150- (50+35) =65.

Am I right?

It should be 90 as it mentioned car is going back to main road.
