Below in each of the questions are given two statements I and II. These statements may be either independent causes or may be effects of independent causes or a common cause. One of these statements may be the effect of the other statements. Read both the statements and decide which of the following answer choice correctly depicts the relationship between these two statements.

One must not take assumptions of one's own.
Answer must be based on the given condition,and clearly both are independent of each other, i.e rainfall and GDP(don't make wild assumptions of rainfall with GDP, lolz).
Then, to check whether they are cause or effect?
It's the effect,because govt. lowered gdp rate after some cause like inflation, recession,etc.
Obviously, it's an effect.

Improve reading skills and concentrate more!

I beg to differ here.
1 can be cause and 2 can be its effect. As there woudl be less rain this year, its going to affect food grain production, that will in turn affect import/export .... hence would affect GDP.

correct answer..
estimates can be wrong,so revised GDP estimates can be change due to any economic reason
so lowered revised estimate is effect of some casue,
where as deficient in rainfall is again an effect of environmental cause

But GDP is not only the cause of lower rainfall it is dependent upon many facotors. So, its correct.
