35 children were absent on children's day and the no of children present on children's day was 175.

So, the total no of students= no of students present on children's day+ absent students.

175 + 35 = 210.

One student gets extra 4 sweet & total no of students present on that particular day is 140 so we have to multiply 16(no.of sweet get each student) with 140. Why 16*175?

Indirect proposition:
175 x
140 x+4

175*(x+4)=140 * x
x=140 * 20
x=2800.

I have One doubt Please tell anyone.

Total children is 175
Absent Children is 35
Total Present is 140 .
Each Extra 4 that means each one 5 sweets
so,
140*5=700
Answer is 700 why the answer is 2800.
Please anyone clarify.

Just do this;

(175 * (175-35) * 4)/35 = Total chocolates.

Rule:-
Expected * (Expected-absent) * extra/absent = Total.

By supposing X sweats are there we may write after an absence of 35 for remaining 140 gets,

140(X/175 + 4) = X.
X = 2800.

If 175 students get X no. of sweets then,
140 students (175 -35) get X+4 sweets.
175X =140(X + 4).
175X =140X + 560.
175X - 140X = 560.
X = 16
Total no. of sweets =175 * 16 = 2800.
(or) 140(16 + 4) = 2800
