13.
In a garden, there are 10 rows and 12 columns of mango trees. The distance between the two trees is 2 metres and a distance of one metre is left from all sides of the boundary of the garden. The length of the garden is
20 m
22 m
24 m
26 m
Answer: Option
Explanation:

Each row contains 12 plants.

There are 11 gapes between the two corner trees (11 x 2) metres and 1 metre on each side is left.

Therefore Length = (22 + 2) m = 24 m.

Why don't you take 10 in a row?

@Abix.

But number of column is more here, so we have to go column-wise in order to get length.

So, 11 gaps * 2 (distance b/w gaps) = 22.

It is 22 since only row can be considered as length so 2*10=20.

Then 20+1+1=22.

@Costas.

Length means the longest side. So here 10 and 12. So 12 is length and 10 is the breadth.

It is not determined which side's length must be calculated. The question could instead ask for the area without any further information.

Why are there 12 plants in each row, if there are 10 plants in a row in the question?

Please explain?

We can't calculate the height because here it is given only no.of tree.

How we calculate height in the same Q some one tell me?

Harsh Pamnani said:   1 decade ago
Answer can be 20m also.

Because it is not mentioned that which side is length I can consider 20m as a length also.
