The sentence is in PAST PERFECT tense. So, the correct sentence will be : No sooner had I opened the door than the rain, heavy and stormy, rushed in making us shiver from head to foot.

I think the first part (A) has error here.
The correct sentence is;
No sooner had I opened the door when the rain heavy and stormy rushed in making us shiver from head to foot.

These are some idioms of English.
Eg if you are using "not only" in a sentence then there must be "but also" in that sentence.
Same way "no sooner", "than" etc etc.

It is just a structure which should not be changed:
No sooner did X happened than Y happened.
No sooner had X happened than Y happened.
So "than" is necessary.
No sooner did X happened than Y happened.
No sooner had X happened than Y happened.
So "than" is necessary.

The sentence existed with conjunction. Those rules we have to follow.
1. No sooner followed by than.
2. Scarcely followed by when.
3. Hardly followed by when.

Why we use did before I?
Mostly we are using did do before the subject in question.
Then what about No sooner I did opened? Please clear me.

A is wrong.
It should be like this.
No sooner when I opened the door the rain, heavy and stormy rushed in making us shiver from head to foot.
It should be like this.
No sooner when I opened the door the rain, heavy and stormy rushed in making us shiver from head to foot.
