I Think it's all correct. There is no error in it. To be more precise we can use 'that's.

"That" may or may not be there. It's correct "that" is a demonstrative word but it may or may not apply here.

Since the person will be obtaining information and if not for the first time retrieving information *from* somewhere.

Here, "that" limits a sentence while "which" defines so "that" is used for compulsory information and after "which" is used for a not compulsory additional information.

Strategy: Try removing "that" from a sentence if you encounter it. If the sentence still holds its sense then remove that or convert it to which.

Similarly with "which" try removing it and check if sentence holds sense if yes then correct if no then change it to "that".
