"father" in the sentence is third person, hence does is appropriate one.

Om Prakash said: (Jun 6, 2012)
Does is the correct option because it is in simple present where as did and had done are in past. And has done is in present perfect.
And father is a third person so the word does is correct.

Nishant said: (Feb 27, 2013)
A child repeats what ever is done in front of him because he is the stage of learning so what his father does he does the same.

Ramya said: (Mar 14, 2013)
His father was done. Here was is past tense and done is past participle so it doesn't work past+present only here work then 3rd person singular (his father) so we use does (it is a present tense of done).

Moji said: (Aug 1, 2013)

Raja said: (Mar 9, 2014)
1. The sentence is in simple present tense.

2. "father" in the sentence is third person singular number,

Hence 'does' is appropriate one.

Abhinaba said: (Mar 17, 2014)
Hey guys, can you help with a sentence.

"I also didn't go there yet".
"me also didn't go there yet".

Which one is correct?

Kasi said: (Mar 21, 2014)
Why did will not come there. Suppose, the child father is no more, then did will come, right?

Avipsa said: (Apr 14, 2014)
Why can't it be :" the small child does whatever his father had done"?

Gaurav said: (Apr 17, 2014)
Wouldn't the following sentence would also be correct:

The small child does whatever his father did.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Kamal said: (May 25, 2014)
Even my thought also same thing as said.

Why not like this "the small child does whatever his father did". Even I agree with option C also correct, but my mind say's this is also correct. Little more clarification for option B.

Ankan Dey said: (Aug 16, 2014)
If his father is still alive then it will be in present tense otherwise in past.

Bubu said: (Oct 10, 2014)
Use "does" because his son has done his father work at present time so use "does" makes the sentences perfect one.

Naveen said: (Oct 31, 2014)
After seeing the action of his father only she is able to do whatever he is performed. Then why don't we use did.

Does is correct because his father does instead of was done, simple tense.

Does is fine. But it can be did also.

So we can write did also.

Please help us to identify the sentence.

Murali Krishna said: (Jul 9, 2016)
Still, I have doubt on the sentence.

Suresh said: (Jul 17, 2016)
Yes, this is in the simple present when the third person is coming. So, Does is used.

Avdhesh said: (Jul 28, 2016)
Generally, there are a lot of opinions to the reader but according to the rule, if principle clause is in the present tense, the sub-ordinate clause is also in the present tense. Here sentence denotes profession of the child.

Kavin Raj said: (Mar 2, 2017)
I agree @KURNAL.

Palash said: (Mar 9, 2017)
Why not has done?

Its also present.

Khushi said: (Apr 11, 2017)
@ALL.

Not sure why most of the people say it is "does".

I suppose it should be "did".

The small child does whatever his father "DID".

Because the action of the kid is after the completion of father's action or while processing it.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Does is the correct answer. I agree.

Vicky said: (Mar 19, 2018)
I agree @Uma.

Shivshankar said: (Jun 6, 2018)
We are talking about the child in simple present tense, so the tense for father should also be simple present tense.

Abhay Karena said: (Sep 12, 2018)
This sentence belongs to simple present tense so does is replaced with was done.

Gerard said: (Oct 26, 2018)
Sort of parallelism, I think.

Since the first verb is "does", it's present tense, then the next should be also in present tense since both verbs are still in the same clause.

Zubair. said: (May 10, 2019)
Here, the context is the habit of the child. Habitual action is expressed by simple present.

Bala said: (Jul 3, 2019)
I Agree @Abhay Karena.
