D is the correct answer because majority of chemoheterotrophic bacteria are symbiotic saprophytic parasitic.

It's (A) by definition (saprophytic=referring to an organism which lives on dead or decaying substances), hence E.Coli is classified under Gram-ve Rods, specifically (lactose fermenting coliforms). So due to fermentation (decaying of fresh milk) functional characteristic possessed by E. Coli makes it be classified under saprophytic.
