Cast iron is a brittle materials so it is machining process smalls piece material produce or discontinuous chips form.

Discontinuous chips are also known as segmented chips. It happens in the case of brittle material like cast iron etc.

Brittle materials like cast iron gives no continuous chips because cast iron contain carbon as flakes of graphite.

Material which is having lower thermal conductivity in nature will produce segmented chips.
Ex: Cast iron, Wood.

Segmental chips are the discontinuous chips. Discontinuous chips are formed when we machining harder materials.

B is correct in 90° Cases but when machining with less cutting speeds continuous chips can be formed.

As cast iron is a brittle material the plastic deformation takes place quickly so it breaks.
