Cast iron has very good damping property, besides it is not having good toughness. More the tougher material more shockloads it can absorb.

Cast iron is having good damping characteristics so it is used In machine tool beds to absorb the vibrations.

Incorrect. Because it is brittle material. If we applied shockloads it will be broken.

Malleable cast iron have excellent shock absorption.
