Statements: The Minister questioned the utility of the space research programme and suggested its replacement by other areas of felt national needs.

Conclusions:

  1. Exploring the space does not contribute to critical national needs.
  2. Research should be oriented to national needs.
Only conclusion I follows
Only conclusion II follows
Either I or II follows
Neither I nor II follows
Both I and II follow
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Clearly, the statement stresses on the fact that heeding to national needs is much more important than space research programmes, which stray the concerned authorities from the former. So, both I and II follow.

Research and innovation in the field of space are a national need and other developed countries doing the same.

As per minister view, II is right but in the case of I his opinion is not factually correct.
