Statements: The distance of 900 km by road between Bombay and Jafra will be reduced to 280 km by sea. This will lead to a saving of Rs. 7.92 crores per annum on fuel.
Conclusions:
- Transportation by sea is cheaper than that by road.
- Fuel must be saved to the greatest extent
Answer: Option
Explanation:
According to the statement, sea transport is cheaper than road transport in the case of route from Bombay to Jafra, not in all the cases. So, conclusion I does not follow. The statement stresses on the saving of fuel. So, conclusion II follows.

The statement clearly mentions that travelling by sea will lead to a saving of Rs.7.92 crores p.a. on fuel. And in the light of the statement we can assert that Transportation by sea is cheaper than that by road.

The statement is about saving the money on fuel but not saving the fuel.

@Nishant.
Did you read the last part of the sentence it says that " This will lead to a saving of Rs. 7.92 crores per annum on "FUEL".
It means that the statement is not also talking about money but abstractly speaking they are going to save also the "FUEL".

As per statement saving of fuel will occur only when sea route is followed. So its OK with second conclusion but with first conclusion that is not sufficient to tell whether it is cheap or not.

Here we can save fuel so second option is true but due to after reducing the distance the traveling become cheaper. So the both options are true.

I do feel both the conclusions are correct. As the sea transportation is cheaper than road also gives correct conclusion about statement answer must be option E.
