In each question below is given a statement followed by two assumptions numbered I and II. You have to consider the statement and the following assumptions and decide which of the assumptions is implicit in the statement.

- (E) If both I and II are implicit.

Statement: "If you want to give any advertisement, give it in the newspaper X." - A tells B.
Assumptions:
- B wants to publicise his products.
- Newspaper X has a wide circulation.
Answer: Option
Explanation:
The word 'If in the statement shows that B may or may not want to publicise his products. So I is not implicit. It is advised that advertisements be given in newspaper X. This means that X will help advertise better i.e., it has wider circulation. So, II is implicit.

It would be a suggestion if it was written as -> "If you want to give any advertisement, YOU CAN give it in the newspaper X". - A tells B.
To me, it is clear that B wants A to place ad in X like there is some personal interest, and also it would be a vague statement if based on this we conclude that X has wide readership,

Newspaper X could be being recommended for reasons other than the size of its' circulation.
Geographic (better coverage of area in which product is available), Demographic (target readership of those most likely to be in the market for the product), Specialist Interest (if product is 'Niche'). There are any number of reasons why a particular newspaper could be recommended.

It is also possible that the newspaper does not have wide circulation, but that newspaper reaches the segment or area where the product is targeted. Example a local newspaper in local language. Even though the circulation may not be high, the product may be targeting the readers of that newspaper. Hence neither statement is implicit.

Why should, it be assumed that Newapaper X has a wider readership. The item to be advertised may be specialised product such as say medical equipment, which would, attract greater audience in a papermused by medical fraternity. Such paper may have smaller readership but directed readership than in newspaper.

yes, I also agree that newspaper x may have wide circulation and low advertising cost and other factors as well. But Assumption I is in no case valid. A is advising B with the condition that "IF YOU WANT TO GIVE ANY ADVERTISEMENT". It is conditional and uncertain.

What if A advised B only on the basis of the advertising cost (say x offers advertisement at lower cost than other newspapers). So X need not to be a wide circulating newspaper, possibly it could be a newspaper with low circulation and low cost levying for advertisement.

If a is suggesting something to b then it means its desirable it could be cost, circulation goodwill whatever so 1 is implicit.

Neither is implicit. Newspaper x is B's opinion based on his knowledge. Doesn't mean x has wider circulation.

We never know if the X newspaper is widespread or not so neither of the assumptions are true.
