Mohon, you made a mistake.

XI = 11, not 9 (which is IX).

Look at the question again. series will be : 5, 8, 11, 14, __, 20.

1=I.
2=II.
3=III.
4=IV.
5=V.
6=VI.
7=VII.
8=VIII.
9=IX.
10=X.

& so on.
Therefore the given numbers are:.

5, 8, 9, 14, __, 20.

But I can't understand the explanation that each number is 3 more than the previous number because by this way.

5+3=8.

But 8+3 isn't equal to 9,

Similarly, 9+3 isn't equal to 14.

So how is it possible that the option [D] i.e. XVII (no. 17) is the correct answer.
