Directions to Solve
In each question below are given two statements followed by two conclusions numbered I and II. You have to take the given two statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance from commonly known facts. Read the conclusion and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows from the two given statements, disregarding commonly known facts.
Give answer:
- (A) If only conclusion I follows
- (B) If only conclusion II follows
- (C) If either I or II follows
- (D) If neither I nor II follows and
- (E) If both I and II follow.

Explanation:
Clearly, the term 'guns' is distributed in both the conclusions without being distributed in any of the premises. So, neither conclusion follows.

The suggested answer D is CORRECT.
Let circles represent sets.
All poles are guns - Imagine two concentric (one inside another) circles. So, bigger one is set of guns and smaller one is poles. This clearly rules out implication I.
Some boats are not guns - Now imagine another circle for boats and try to place it such that it DOES NOT follows the condition II. Imagine a circle outside the poles circle but inside guns circle.
And yes, such a placement is possible! Therefore, neither implication follows.

2. Set{boats}! = set{poles} and neither boats can be the super set of poles, nor poles can be superset of boats.
From 1 & 2 its clear that boats cannot be the superset of guns, so conclusion I will not follow.
It is possible that some boats are not guns but it is also possible that all the boats are guns, as its not clear conclusion II will not follow.

Let me clarify.
All poles are gun.
Some boats are not pole.
It means that boat has a larger area and it is possible that it is covering the complete gun area (consisting complete pole area).
By this, some area the boat is left out which is not a part of anything. This is satisfying every case.
So, the best answer is Both I and II follows.

I think the answer must be C because in conclusion, one conclusion is positive and the other is negative. Both conclusions are wrong also after checking. Elements are also same in both conclusions. It proves all the 3 conditions of either case are true here. So the answer is c.

The correct answer is 'C'. Because When both the conclusions are wrong and both subjects and predicates of the two conclusions are same along with that which is followed by 'ALL' in first conclusion and 'SOME. NOT' in second conclusion then conclusion comes to either case.

It is stated that "All poles are guns. Some boats are not poles".
It can be also deduced that, some boats are poles and every poles is a gun. This implies that some boats are guns, thus also some boats are not guns. So the second conclusion follows. So I'll go with B.

As it is already mentioned that some boats are not poles and all the poles are guns, so on creating a venn-diagram of it, the portion acquired by the poles in the guns cannot be fully occupied by the boats.

Yes, I agree with rest of the people only Option B is correct. As it mentioned clearly some boats are not poles and All poles are Guns. So this so sure that Some boats are not guns.

Where is the fault then. Only conclusion II follows.

Correct answer should be B! No doubt.
If "All guns are boats. " changes to "Some boats are guns" (they are not equal logically!) , then D is correct!
If "All guns are boats. " changes to "Some boats are guns" (they are not equal logically!) , then D is correct!
